  1. The fill plug is on the left side 3/4 of the way back.. It uses a 10mm internal (allen wrench) hex. Mine was buggered out when I got to it and not I have to replace both the drain and fill to make it right. Each night when I go to bed I say a small prayer the lord of vice, my 25 year old vice grip pliers. They allowed me to remove the two plugs when I was sure I was going to have to drill them out and retap to change gear oil.
  2. I have not yet removed the drain but will make sure I find the fill side before I remove the drain plug. Any other notes on whether the plug on the left side back is the right one?
  3. I am going to refill my 6 sp this weekend but am having trouble finding the fill hole in the location shown in the Bentley Manual. The Manual shows it on the left side right by the cv joint. I cannot find it there. There is a 10mm plug left side closer to the back. Is that it? Also what fuid do you reccommend?
  4. The Vertex replacement ball joints work only with Vertex control arms according to the website. I noticed that Pelican Parts now caries URO replacement arms. Has anybody had experience with URO parts? My limited experience with tem has been fine.
  5. It was the ball joint. I injected oil in and it stopped I am ordering a new control arm.
  6. I have a 2001 Boxster S 6sp. Over the last year I have begun to have squeaks from the left front. I have lubricated everything while trying to find the source. I have taken off the wheel and listened while I moved the suspension up and down and the noise seems to be coming from the strut itself. The noise occurs both when the wheels are turned and when the suspension moves up and down. The bushings are good and it does not seem to be coming from the bushings or joints but from the strut itself. It gets worse as you drive more or when it is hot. It is driving me crazy but I do not want to just order new struts without knowing that is the problem. I lubricated the strut mount on top too without a change. Any ideas?
  7. I have a 2001 S. I have now done both right and left sides at 44k and 57k. It is about a 3 hour job per side with a good half hour saved by doing both at the same time. That is actual saved time because you will save more doing the second side based on the knowledge you gain with side one and don't forget by the time you get to side 2. It is a dirty job but the if you save $400 to $700 it may be worth it to you. The cost of the parts, boot kits, axle nuts (they say they should be replaced) and band aides is less than $70. Also get you to know and love the bottom side of your Boxster.
