  1. Same issue here. There are two level sensors that are supposed to detect when the vehicle is tilted with the front higher than the rear and then that causes the headlights to dip so they are not shining in someone's eyes. sounds like a feature I coudl almost do without?!? Replaceing the sensors is not cheap. Like you, my last service call I had one replaced and then the symptom returned so does that mean the other sensor needs to be replaced or the sensors are not the problem at all?!

One thing that seems to trigger erratic behavior is stomping on the brakes and causing the front end to dive -- then I get the beams dipping and the sensor going off. I was coming to a stoplight once and the beams started dipping and then coming back up and dipping again - cycling back and forth - and I felt sorry for the poor guy stopped in front of me. He must have wondered about the whacko behind him giving him a light show!!!

The rear sensor is what went out in mine. The way I fixed it is that I just disconnected the arm from the suspension. ha. sensor is like 100.00 bucks so I'll just deal with no movement up and down for awhile.

  2. A new controller may be the ticket to fix your issue. But, you might want to check the servos first. Take the center part of the dash apart, plug in your controller and cycle through heat and ac. You should be able to see the flaps move. If one doesn't move, swap the plug with a different one to see if you have a faulty servo.

I bought my controller from sunset porsche. they had the best deal on the net I could find. I have to use mail order because the nearest porsche dealer is about 4 hours away from me.

  3. No pics. Just remember to take your time. Trim around the stereo is just pressed in and it pops out fairly easily. If I remember correctly, if you just want to replace the ac controller, that is the only part you have to take off. press in the metal clip things on both sides of it ( they are shiny compared to everything else)and it will slide out. Plugs are on the back of it.

  4. the part was a little over 200.00 through sunset. Give them your vin because there is like 15 different types of controllers for this car. I determined it was that part that was screwed up because I tested the actuators on different plugs and it wasn't making them move on some of the plugs. I replaced it myself yesterday. the hardest part of replacing the unit was getting it out of the dash. you have to get 2 flat head screw drivers and press against the metal clips holding it in there. It slides out like a stereo. My new part has a silver fascia, instead of black, so I think it looks better too.

I no longer have the clicking noises inside the dash. I believe that was caused by the controller sending intermittent signals to the actuators for no reason. Also, the fan immediately comes on now, without the 4 or 5 minute pause like you and I were having. I'm hesitant to though the old part in the trash as of yet. Maybe I'll take it apart or something to see how it works (or how it doesn't work).

But, the temp on the passenger side is not as cold as the driver's side (which is much improved, though). I believe I may have a faulty temp sensor on the passenger side. Those shouldn't be too hard to replace. The one I think is messed up is behind the glove box. Not an expensive part, either. only like 15.00 bucks, so I'll try that. I'd test the old one, but I have no idea how to test a temp sensor.

  5. I've got my entire dash tore apart trying to figure out what is causing the driver side to blow cold air, while the passenger side is blowing air like its comeing directly from outside. I thought it was a solenoid went out, but after testing 4 of them, I'm getting frustrated. Anyone have any ideas? Could it be the air controller going out on me? I'm doing it myself because I'm out of warranty on my 04 s. I only have 2 zone climate control
