  1. Great video! So what were your impressions after the ride Pedro?
  2. I thought you might change your mind. That exhaust really looks nice. Post up some more current pictures. Jon
  3. How many miles are on the exhaust? What do you want for it?
  4. Loren, thanks alot! Do you have a link to take you to a parts vendor for itemized alacarte menu? thx, Jon Ps, I'm sure these aren't cheap...
  5. Thought about just the door lids for accents, but what is available? I love the dark wood. Have any idea of the costs involved? Would be pretty cool to do the center console out of walnut too... Thanks, Jon
  6. I have the dark Maple shifter and e-brake option on my 986 S. I would like to upgrade the door pocket lids to the same as they are the black plastic currently...This appears to be a very hard part to find. Please help? Thx, Jon
  7. I have had conversations with Nello @ Maxspeed and he has answered my questions. As a result, I plan on going with the sausage muffler (they still sell it, it's just more cash) and sport headers before too long. The sausage muffler has zero resonance from what I understand. Maxspeed has some really nice product and are not priced into the stratosphere... I mean let's be serious, you can pick up on of these late model 986's for in the 20k range or less depending on how many miles / options / care the car has recieved so why would you blow nearly 4-5k on a fabspeed or other "percieved high end" exhaust system. That's like 25% of what the car costs. For under 2k installed, I think you are still getting the same performance out of the MS package for the 986. After some emails with back and forth with Maxspeed, I cannot wait to get mine... Just my .02...Jon This was Maxspeed's first muffler and was more expensive than the new one. I had the new one until I got a used PSE. The new one has resonance and I think I would have liked this other one better. However, Maxspeed has a new one in development and should be out soon. Chris
  8. Can anyone comment on why Jim's exhaust looks different than what i see on maxspeed's website? Surely someone can pipe in here. Jon
  9. Jim, was the exhaust easy to align with respect to centering within the existing opening. I have an 01 S and am looking to do the headers and exhaust, but on their website, the black boxster's exhaust looks really crooked...Just didn't want to get all this to the shop and have them say at the end of the day....sorry, we just can't center it up... Your's looks very centered though. Did you have to do anything to achieve that? Jon One additional thing...the muffler looks very different in the photos you have vs. maxspeed motorsports photos? Your's looks like a dansk sausage? What's the deal???
  10. Sounds like for the money, installing the maxspeed headers and exhaust is a pretty good deal as everyone else's seems to be either way out of the ballpark in terms of cost or resonates like crazy in that 2k-3k rpm range. I only have one issue with it and that is the fact that the black boxster's maxspeed exhaust in the picture / youtube videos is crooked as hell. They really should redo it as it makes the product appear cheap and have non-fit issues. The only maxspeed I've seen that looks dead-on straight is 986jim's seen above in this thread. I had thought is would be pretty cool to install the PSE model for my '01 S along with maxspeed headers, just haven't made up my mind yet as it would add an extra 1000 bucks to the bill before install. Any ideas on that? I know it adds a little weight, but that exhaust looks and sounds very nice. Cheapest I've found the PSE for '00-'02 models is design911 over in the uk. Shipped to me, it's under 1800 bucks usd and that's less than anyone else in the states, including the sunset porsche out in oregon. They quoted 1700 and change plus shipping.
  11. Jim, I liked the video clip and from reading your posts, it definately looks like you know your stuff. I have an 01 S (same color combo) and love it! How much would that header and exhaust system set me back with installation? Also, was the air intake worth it? Thanks, Jon Its an exact copy of the evom exhaust. It's quiet at normal driving and loud when you stop on it. I have a clip on you tube. If you search boxster exhaust on you tube, my youtube name is DSMJim I think. I have a few clips on there from my car. I would highly recommend the maxspeed exhaust it sounds great looks great, and boy did I feel that extra 5hp hahahaha.
  12. Mna, the smoked lights look great on the car. Now hook a brother up and put up a video of that bad *** exhaust you have there...Jon have you considered the LED tail lights on eBay? some of them are very 'rice', but this is one set that i could live with. i've read about one person that bought them and he really likes them and says that they are plenty bright. i may give them a try. :clapping: I have had these on for a couple of months now. They are bright enough. I must take some pics at night to show it.
  13. Any ideas on maybe polishing it clear again? Dremel tool maybe?
  14. Ok, here is a difficult one. My 986 S has the Dark Maple Burr shift knob and e-brake handle option. I know these are hard to come by, but here is the tricky part. All I really need is a new shift pattern insert as the existing one is dulled out. The shifter itself has a few scratches on the aluminum, but wood is fine. So, does anyone know where I can get my hands on such a part or would I just have to bit the bullet and purchase the entire new assembly? Interior color is savannah beige. Thanks
