  1. Hi Guys,

May be a little OT, but have you guys seen the price of the rebuilding at Autofarm.? Okay they are doing the Silsleeve rebuilt cylinder block at the same time, and this is UK pricing, but still all options are 11K (US) plus.

I was under the impression that if you exchanged your core, a 03 996 factory recon engines from someone like Sunset are available for 12K US. Wouldn't most people go this route in the event of a situation like the above?

I simply wouldn't spend more than 4K for a rebuild. Say 3K for parts + 1K for labour. Anyone know how many hours it takes to rebuild a M96 engine to see if my labour is fair?

Might be, since the rod bolts broke as wel as the beam too, but the crown of the piston looks baked, like it was well done under boost :-)

You will NEVER get a motor rebuild with parts for 4K it will be more like 7-8K, the parts are not mass produced like a SB Chevy you can order from Jegs. I personal y would rather have a rebuilt then a new motor since when you rebuid it you improve all the weak points.

  2. shameless plug!!!!

I have a 2000 3.2 that has a some leakdown issue that will need new rings to be 100%. The motor has 52000 miles and still runs fine but I am adding a 3.6 to my "mod list". I will be selling my 3.2 for 3500USD. PM me if anyone is interested. I will be taking the car on a 300+ mile trip this week with the 3.2 still in it so yes it does still run good.

  3. This is the information I needed. I have purchased the 3.6 with 40K miles on it, 996 instrument cluster, and lightweight flywheel. According to what you wrote above I WILL need the 7.8 DME and a few connectors for my 2000 Boxster S. Thanks for all you detailed info I have used it and questioned my mechanic that will be doing the work and the tuning company providing the software. I take your knowledge very seriously as you have done this and they have not yet. I look to have my kit in in the next month.

  4. Very cool project man! I wish I had done this 2 years ago. Dave in NJ had FVD install a 3.8 in a 2000 S. Many issues revolved around the tuning how did iA overcome this issue?

You are a little confused, I did the swap not IA. Unlike the swap done by FVD on Dave's car, all my systems work including the cruise control, which last time I heard FVD still hadn't figured out how to get Dave's to work.

    Todd

I know you did the work but I thought iA did the tunning. BTW is this the same Todd from the KCWS?

  5. So I guess I was screwed by this guy. I gave him my stock tail lights with the promiss that he would install my rear window in Feb I purchased from him. Long story short no word or anything. I guess I should have known better. Here is the most recent contact I had with him. I have since emailed him and PM'd him a number of times...........

  6. I agree completly. Nowadays, they seem to always sell the AOS with the bottom rubber tube. But it's worth asking them to be sure. If not, the part is very cheap anyway.

correct Stefan - per what I was told by sunset - revision .04 comes w/ the bellows

Nope...Just purchased last week 118 bucks for the AOS and $65 for the newest version of the lower Bellow tube.

  7. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE listen. I DYI'd the AOS last year and did not change the bottom tube because I was told it was always the top the had the issue. Recently the car had been dumping oil on the ground. I just had a friend of mine who is a Porsche cup car mech. dig into it to find the root of the issue. After removing a ton of oil from the engine compartment we found the bottom tube had cracked and split and was indeed the issue in question. So if you do do the AOS PLEASE change that piece also. Trust me otherwise you will not drive the car and the drop another grand into finding what the problem is.

  9. Hey pk2, I remember reading an article on european magzine for their project turbo car? I think

Hi, anybody mounted an intercooler on their Super or turbocharged Boxster ? If so, where and what kind? Does it require remaping your AIC or ECU. Also if your using a piggy back device, what kind?

    Thanx, PK

    this article? http://www.europeancarweb.com/features/070...ters/index.html

u can buy it at freemansupply.com or plastic world.ca

    what's ur zip code?

    Ok, post surgery report...

i had to get the Flexane 94, no one had 80 for several hundred miles.

take your time when preparing for the pour, really make sure you seal it up on the bottom.

the ride is stiff, the throttle response is definetly improved. the vibrations on the other had are a little much for my wife, it feels like a race car which in my mind is awesome, but it is a little harsh for daily driving.

i may redo a mount with the 80 to see if it is any better.

anyone have an old mount they would like to sell?

Guy's I am killing myself here where do I find this Flexane stuff. I want to get this done ASAP.

    TIA
