  1. Update: I found a fuse diagram and checked them, and switched them to double check - it is not the fuse (they checked out okay) Am I in bigger trouble than I thought here? There were no strange sounds when I operated the seat this morning, I just went to move it back to it's original position and I get no power. Any advice would be great - Please and thanks.
  2. I was figuring on it being a fuse - I was also hoping for a fuse chart on the back of the panel - but I don't see anything. Might someone have a jpeg of the chart available? (I just downloaded the manual and I don't see a chart there either) Please and thanks!
  3. Good Morning, It is pretty cold out here today and I just went into the car to get it ready for a drive today. I started her up and was going to get out when I dropped my phone in the seat. I jumped out and used the switch to move the seat forward to reach in and grab my phone from under the seat. Well I got my phone out, but when I went to move the seat back - nothing - no power noises, none of the switches are doing any adjustment. What did I do now? Please and thanks.....
  4. Thanks Loren, Would you advise not to run the car until then judging by my description? After the incident, I didn't notice any other peculiarities - and the smell was only detected when I got out of the car (as in, not overpoweringly strong) I have a 300 mile pleasure cruise that starts tomorrow that - well you know - I had visions of the top down and having fun! Thanks...
  5. Good Morning, Out for my "at least once a week" run in the car (2000.996 convertible) and something strange happened. Nice day, a little cool though, started with the top down - about a half hour later, decided it was getting a little too cool and pulled into a country driveway to do the top up. I pull out (in reverse) to continue on this great road, slow down to shift into first to go forward, when the engine revs up to redline all on its own! I just changed the pedals a month ago to aluminum, so I thought maybe they got tied up with the carpet or something - gave the floormat a little jiggle to get it completely out of the way and carried on. Thought everything was back to normal and did my drive an then carried on home. When I parked the car and got out though - I'd swear I could smell the clutch (and this was a couple of hours after the incident) Any ideas? Thanks.....
  6. Great - I'll get in there latter this evening.... Thanks Very Much.
  7. Thanks for the advice - that was actually the first thing I checked, as I figured that might be the weak link too. The connection is fine though - and then after thinking some more, I thought it probably wasn't the weak link as it stops in the same position every time - well, at least it is consistent! Thanks....
  8. 2000 996 -and I took the SmartTop module off when it buggered things up last time (a couple of months ago) $300.00 down the drain on that one....
  9. Hey there, Okay, this just started the other day - the convertible top starts the cycle, everything looks and sounds fine, the clamshell opens without hesitation - it unhooks and goes through the motion without any hiccups - until the top is i the vertical position - then it just stops abruptly. I put it back down and try again - it does the same thing - the only way it will finish the cycle is if I leave it for a couple of minutes in the half down position, then finish the cycle - it works like it should - not shaky or strange movements at all, it's just like it was interrupted halfway and now it is ready to continue (like a "don't rush me, I just needed a breather!") Any advice without taking it back for a couple hundred dollar diagnostic.... Please and thanks - As Always! P.S. Hope everyone is having a great summer with their Porsche toys!
  10. Okay, I waited for the Bridgestones to come in and I'm glad I did. Took it out for a pretty good run this afternoon (maybe 50 miles) after getting the tires done this morning - what a difference from the junk that was on the car! Lots more confidence in throwing the car around - not of the "about to break free" feeling I was getting used to. As well, my K&N Intake kit was at the house when I got home - my lucky day! I installed it after dinner and went out for another little run (maybe 20 miles this time) and the car sounded and felt great! Doubt it adds the 20 or so horse that is rumored, but it adds a little more jam that's for sure.....
  11. Well, As it turn out - the tires I wanted are not in stock until next week which doesn't give me enough time to beat them up a bit. I am now going with Pirelli PZero Nero's instead. My question is - has anyone run these and, if so, what's your take on them? Please and thanks.
  12. Okay, So I went to the local guy and his prices do seem pretty good - I ordered Bridgestone 050 Pole Positions and he went with $1400.00 (Canadian) installed, and everything - taxes in. I thought that was fair - all things considered.....
  13. Wow - 500 miles - that's a little more than I thought would be needed (I was hoping for a few hundred) Thanks for the info - much appreciated!
  14. Hey there, I talked to a couple of friends and they all say go see this guy in town for the best price (we'll see) I'm going to get a price from tirerack and see if he'll match it - I'm looking for a set of Michelins to put on though (I'm thinking Pilot Sports) I have a track day coming up in a couple of weeks so I wanted to have some fresh rubber to beat up! Fingers crossed.....
