If the car never had a CD Changer then you likely didn't have the fiber optic cables and the car may not be programmed to recognize it.
See TSB 9/04 9160 CD Changer CDC-4 Installation Instructions -- dated Jun 25, 2004 here
thanks Loren not sure either but it doesnt look like it there is just 1 small retangle plug

P0491 Secondary Air Injection System, Bank 1 - Insufficient Flow
P0492 Secondary Air Injection System, Bank 2 - Insufficient Flow
Possible cause of fault
- Electrical fault in power supply or line between relay and secondary air injection pump
- Secondary air injection pump relay mechanically faulty
- Mechanical fault in electrical secondary air valve
- Pneumatic secondary air valve faulty/sluggish
- Electrical fault in secondary air injection pump
- Mechanical fault in secondary air injection pump or secondary air injection pump blocked
- Vacuum system leaking
- Air hose to secondary air injection pump slipped off or constricted
Check the connector (perhaps they left it unplugged) then fuse (40A on relay panel near DME).
Thanks Loren

Hi after replacing the left oil reservior holding case for the turbo ive noticed the CEL with 2 codes p0491 p0492 my scan tool shows it as secondary air injection system could it have been from when we made the repairs?? any suggestions thanks
-
I would not drive the car.
You may have cracked the case or oil pan cover.
I realize that is there anything else i should look at?? also is it very difficult to replace the case ? thanks Dean
<note I'm not familiar with Turbo's -- but on non-turbo 996s....>
If it is the case -- and Loren means the engine casing -- than your only realistic choice is to probably have it welded.
The oil "pan"/case is part of the entire engine block/casing.
If it is the cover and just the cover -- you might get away with either welding it or replacing it.
I would see if you can locate the leak by putting the car on ramps and pulling the cover (ground effects cover, not oil pan cover)
below the oil pan/case and trying to see if you can locate the source of the leak or any obvious physical damage.
Before turning the engine over (even if it is to drive up some ramps) -- make sure you have sufficient oil.

Thanks I found the leak i cracked the left side of the turbos oil collection housing a 95.00 part . :) .... youve been alot worse for a stupid stunt!! thanks again Dean

i have a 996tt and was looking for opinions on replacing my spark plugs with ahigh performance one since my car is tuned 490hp stage 1 ecu any suggestions thanks
-
Yes, you will need to reset the codes. You can do this with PST2, PIWIS, durametric or as you say disconnect the battery for ~10 minutes.
I installed a new maf sensor and disconnected the battery for 10 min it seemed to work fine for awhile until soon after when id go and start my 996TT that the minute I put it into drive the ABS PCM lights would go on - I finally reinstalled the tuned software I purchased from fvd.Us and it cleared it out for good -- my only question is now it seems to lack the initial power and seems a little hesitant im wondering if I need to do anything else to the new maf sensor or if after driving the Car with the ABS and PCM? lights I fouled the spark plugs???? thanks for any help

well im a t a loss! i have a 02 996 tt with pcm (have that code ) but when i put it in it wont accept it so im figuring on it also needs the navigation code but thats not illuminated are there certain buttons i have to push together to get me over to the navigation screen??thanks

hi all i need to get a navigation code have the pcm code but i believe i need the nav code only not sure how to access it since it doesnt illuminate on the screen it asks for the pcm code which i put in but rejects it and after a few tries it make sme wait a hour!! thanks

Mine looked exactly like new...only an electrical test could tell. MAFs fail all the time...reasons are usually related to changing intake, filter, oily filter. Mine died as a result of using the V-flow. Since I went to the Sportec, I have not lost a MAF. Fried MAFs will throw codes (you will typically get ABS, PCM...then a CEL)
my maf sensor seems to have gone after use of a k and n air filter upon examination it looks like new even cleaned it but still the same fault codes p0102 and abs ect ordered new sensor my question is once i install new sensor do i need to reset anything on car like disconnecting battery clear fault codes?? thanks

Cayenne tuned turbo overboost
in 986 Series (Boxster, Boxster S)
Posted
Hi My 2004 cayenne turbo that was tuned Is coming up with a code when we use our scan tool, saying overboost on turbo, supercharger (code P234)was wondering if the low budget tuner that did the work did it right as sometimes It gets a good amount of boost and sometimes it seems flat. spark plugs and coils were just changed and no lights are on Anyone know If disc0nnecting the battery would help by resetting the computer ? Thanks
