Sorry to resurrect this old thread. Do you guys know if this is really plug & play? I have an '08 987s w/heated seats that I factory ordered. My only regret is not getting climate control.

Any guess as to the cost of the control unit?

what year is your car? was the replacement work done on the eastside for your tranny?

my shifter was also *way* out - seems better now

Yep, eastside porsche dealer. My car is an '03.

I'm a little frustrated by the fact that I now have a rebuilt transmission when a simple linkage adjustment (which I asked for) would likely have taken care of my issues. Oh well -- seems to be working fine at the moment.

coming back to this thread....

i just preformed the a shifter re-alignment and it now feels much better

the clip on tool worked like a champ and my shifter was not able to snap in until i removed and re-installed the cables. definitly out of alignment. it feels much more positive and does not "clip" 2nd any longer.

Since I last posted the dealer replaced my tranny, which didn't do anything to improve shifter feel... So I decided to take matters into my own hands. I bought both the shift adjuster tool and the Porsche SSK. My shifter was *way* out of alignment (even though I'd specifically asked my dealer to check alignment). Now, in combination with the SSK, it shifts much better. Sill occasionally weird into 2nd, but much better overall. Still much worse than my old S2k, and Miata(s), and M3, and... :(

geeez Loren - I think I am in trouble.  I purchased the ROW M030 "complete" suspension kit from a company in the UK(not Carnewal) and I have a feeling I am not "complete" or even correct :(

Front shocks - 996.343.041.18 are for a MY02. Although the parts list says they can be replaced with 996 343 041 21 (for MY03).

Front springs - 996.343.531.19 is correct. They should be marked Green and White.

Rear shocks - 996.333.051.22 are for a MY02 (again). Although the parts list says they can be replaced with 996 343 051 26 (for MY03).

Rear springs - 996.333.531.26 is correct. They should be marked Green and White.

Stabilizer - 996.343.701.04 and 996.333.701.19 (replaces 996 333 701 17) are correct.

996.343.792.12 and 996.333.792.25 are new stabilizer mounts since your new bars are likely larger in diameter.

Bump stops and compensation plates can be reusedas they are the same. The kits vary so I've seen some with and some without.

So the only thing I see in question is the shocks. I do not know the difference between the MY02 and MY03 shocks. Perhaps it is just the manufacturer since the parts list says you can use the newer ones on an older car.

Are you sure he doesn't need new rear bumpstops? I'm almost certain the ROW030 comes with new rear bumpstops -- mine did...

thanks - i'll go order one and check it - i am just trying to asertain if the notchy 1-2 shift is "Normal" before i consider doing the B&M SSK. if it cannot be fixed then i need to start going down the tranny replacement road with my warrenty co.

Is it *always* notchy, or is it intermittent? Worse when cold?

My 996 has had a sporadic issue w/shifting into 2nd since new. When warm it's almost always nice & solid. However, seemingly randomly it'll feel like I'm shifting through gravel. About once a month it'll pop out of 2nd as I'm letting out the clutch.

The dealer hasn't been able to repro, and says my tranny feels "normal", so I'm thinking it might be linkage... Not sure.

note that the spec is 36/36 f/r for the 17" wheels/tires, so it isn't as simple as maintaining an x-psi f/r delta.

why the higher pressure in the rear on the 18s? best guesses I've heard yet are a) even tire wear and B) rim protection...

Slightly off topic, but related. I've seen a couple DIY instructions for suspension R&R on the various sites. Is there an "official" manual you'd recommend for someone doing the job themselves? I'd like to make sure I get the torques right, etc. Also, I'd like something more detailed than "remove the rear carpeting".

Loren, can I bother you to check these part numbers? I have an '03 C2 6spd coupe. I'd like to double check the numbers before jumping into the install.

996 343 531 19 (spring, front, white/green, blue)

Rear:

996 333 531 26 (spring, rear white/green, blue)

996 333 051 26 (damper)

996.333.105.03 (bump stops)

I cranked the bass up to 8, and set treble at 0. This sounds better. I've actually got it faded to the front by +3. I'll experiment.

It's strange that they made such a significant change to the equalization. I wonder why...

I'm still getting bass out of the "enclosure". Perhaps it's just the change between the older "boomy" amps and the new one. IMO it sounds terrible, especially on CD. Backing the treble down to about neg-4 and upping the bass to +3 seems to make it a bit more bearable.

I have a Bose stereo in my '03 C2. I had my amp replaced last week because my stereo would intermittently "freeze", and not turn on.

Now, the stereo turns on just fine, but it sounds strange. Sounds like all highs/mids, with little bass. From this, 2 questions:

1) does a head-unit need to be "coded" for Bose after a new amp is installed?

2) does the Bose system have a different amp?

Sounds great guys. I just need to figure out whether I can deal w/the super low ride height. I'm not sure I could get into my driveway :)

Can you guys comment on ride quality over rough pavement?

Oh, and Zeke, the C2 (moderately optioned) is lighter than the GT3 :)
