  1. thanks for the info.. the photo shows the numbers on the valve alright. just hope that when i take delivery of it, it would be the same set of rims. btw have you changed yours yet? and any spacers that you might like to fit on? 5mm is all porsche recommends.. will adding thicker spacers void any warranty if any thing happens?

HEY, I am about to grab a set of used 19" Carrera S Wheels (8x19 57mm and 9.5x19 46mm) over the net ... now i am pretty sceptical whether the guy is selling his originals or replicas - he claimed originals. Also, does Porsche manufacture this wheels with various offsets and widths? or do they only make a standard 57mm/ 46mm and 8x19/ 9.5x19 respectively??
  3. the fan and the thermostat works fine then from what you describe. just worrying that the engine temp gauge always stays smacked in the middle all the time after 20min of starting up and that worries me. is it normal? my weather here isn't that cold however, ranging between 22-30 degress celcius.

  5. Would like to know those who remapped their 987, and what have you guys got out of it, and if it's worth doing so.
  6. i experience the same for my '06 987. it seems that my engine compartment fan on the right rear is perpetually on. the temp gauge points to the middle even after it was stationery for 2 hours. guess it is normal now that you guys mentioned. my OAT ranges 22-30C.
  7. I am located in Singapore. Other than the Porsche Agent, I do not know who else has PIWIS. Is the Duramatic Software Dianostic Tool able to do the job?

  9. my air intake fan seems to be perpertually on, and it's kind of noisy. Is it normal? I find that my 987's louder than the 997 cabrio on the roads, or maybe it's just me that's paranoid?
  10. Got my 987 from Japan. the Radio Frequencies Reflected on the CDR24 is 10Mhz lower than the actual received. I had my mechanic to add a converter in however it still showed the same. Could anyone guide me on whether if there's a way to go about doing it?
  11. PIWIS is the latest generation tester used by Porsche dealers (it replaced the PST2 Tester). You can read the hours with a Durametric unit (www.durametric.com), which is more affordable for a DIY'er. Anything electronic can be tampered with, but you may as well check the hours to see what you might find out.   12. wouldn't the hours be able to be tampered with as well? I also read of readers changing the mileage easily. I will feel I was ripped off if i were to find out that the mileage has been tampered with on my car. Guess I need to send it the the mechanics or the agent to confirm my new found worry. By the way, PIWIS means? And what information does it extract exactly for the 987?
  13. I know little about all this, how would i be able to find out what you have just mentioned?
  14. I have just received my used 06 Boxster from Japan. What i noticed was that the mileage indicating on the dash was 2000miles but certain parts of the car doesn't really reflect the condition of the wear reflective of the mileage, eg. the brake discs were pretty seasoned and worn that look more like it has done 30000miles. The leathers seats looked well used and the overall condition doesn't really seems to fit in. For those seasoned owners of Porsches, my post to you guys are - Is it possible for the mileage to be tampered with, without any way of discovering the real mileage? I know it is kind of easy to change the numbers, however I heard even if the numbers were tampered with, the others systems in the car will not tally with the new mileage and could be easily detected once it is sent to the agent. I do not have any maintenance records and the previous owner didn't go back to his agent in his own country for maintenance, as I have called in Porsche Japan and enquired. Is there any other way of finding out the real mileage?
