  1. I have a dead battery in my 99 996. The hood is locked, and I have seen the information on how to jump the positive terminal in the fuse box - I have attached a pic of what should be there. However, when I opened my fuse box, I am not seeing a positive terminal in the attached pic. I tripled checked using pics and diagrams, and I had a friend check as well. Is this possible? I have tried searching for the part online as well, and I had no luck. Any help would be appreciated!

    You are going to have to use the emergency release cable - the terminal in the fuse box was not added until model year 2001.

    Thanks Loren --- I was trying everything I could to not have to remove the wheel panel, as I have never done anything like that before. Do you think it would be possible to get a battery charger that hooked to the cigarette adapter that could give the battery enough charge to open the trunk? Thanks for your help!

    Yes, perhaps if you use the proper one. It will depend on if the battery has a dead cell. If you have a dead cell then no voltage across the battery.

    In most cases you can grab the emergency wire with a simple hook tool.

  2. I have been chasing this issue for a while now, trying to figure out what the hell is the cause. I'm trying to go about it methodically partly because there's so much stuff tied into the PSM/ABS system.

    I'm getting PSM activation/intervention when the car is turning left on an off/on ramp or a curve at speed. The speed itself isn't really at play (doesn't happen when making a left turn on the street, for example) but almost always activates on the higher speeds of a highway curve (whether the surface is at an incline up/down or level).

    So far, we've checked the tires, ABS speed sensor, steering angle, yaw sensor, brake switches.

    I had a ABS/PSM light as well, but that turned out to be the brake switch which is now fixed, yet the PSM problem persists. The steering wheel angle was reset and calibrated. The yaw sensor shows readings that are not out of range.

    I cleaned the MAF and seems to be fine (It was fine beforehand but just in case, I cleaned it). I also got a new Battery just in case.

    What else could it be? Help would be appreciated.

    It only happens when car is turning to the left. Normal operation to the right. Is there something I can buy that logs the driving conditions and record PSM activation? maybe it's a particular speed that needs to be reached, a particular steering angle or yaw combination? What other sensors are on-board that affect this?

  3. I just got my 2003 911 C2 out of storage. After installing the battery everything is working okay except the radio which is a CDR 23. The radio powers on, displays PORSCHE then after about 15 seconds turns itself off. It then powers back on and repeats the cycle. I can't even turn it off using the power button. Any suggestions?

  4. I believe I've seen a thread about this exact question, possibly with photos, possibly in the DIY section. check the search engine... I've thought about this myself, but live in an area with a moderate climate, don't track the car, and don't really have an overheating concern. But I do take trips to hot country in the summer, and will be driving down to LA next week hoping it does not really warm up. All that being said, I've always wondered why Porsche did not just put the 3rd radiator in the C4S as well as the Turbo. Oh well, no intercoolers, no center radiator... just a C4S I guess. ;)

  5. I was in a similar, but not matching spot. My 03 C4S had Pirelli P-zero's and I wanted to replace just the back. Mistake. I had wanted to switch over to Bridgestone 050 Pole Positions, and put 2 on the back. Wrong. I ended up driving the car with the PSM off most of the time as it kept kicking in anytime I went around a curve at over about 20 mph. So I put 2 of the 050's on the front, and voila problem solved. Subsequent changes have always been all four at the same time.

    I've run the Bridgestones on the C4S and my 911SC and like them. This would be the Bridgestone Potenza O50 Pole Position. the Pole Position is a different tire than the standard 050, so check carefully if you look at these. Stickier compound on the Pole Position than the regular 050. Porsche recommends the 020, but I think the 050 Pole Position is just as good. It's a summer tire, not meant for use in extreme cold, snow, etc., but I live in a relatively mild climate area, with lots of rain in the winter, and like the 050 because of the AA traction rating, which means its good in wet conditions. Other folks might prefer running an all-season tire, but I drive on mountain roads and want the better grip of a summer tire.

    Hope this doesn't start up the "tire wars" again. All above is imho of course.

  6. Sounds like something slid between the brake caliper and

    the wheel. Look for marks in the inner front wheels.

    sounds right to me too. In my 911SC I've picked up a spike which blew out the left rear tire in the rain on the 280 at about 80 mph, and a small pebble which jammed the front a/c condenser fan which then overheated and started on fire. no s___. hope this one works out ok for you. actually sounds like it might have been a beer can that got caught up in there.
