  1. I haven't been to the forum for awhile now, but glad to see the possible restart of the old "oil wars."

    10-40 might be a better consideration in colder weather, but 20-50 probably ok.  I recall using Castrol in my SC.

  2. never heard of that model.  911T, 911E, 911S all in early 70's.  

    but, and this is a big but, it might  be a 911S modified by Weissach, 911S-W, and if so it's likely a rocket car, and probably raced.

  3. the tire shop I have used for my C4$ places 2 hydraulic jacks at front, and then at rear.

    Its really fast.  the jacks are usually in place when I turn around to look after getting out of the car.  I think the points are under the shocks.

    Porsche was famous for the side lift jack.  back in the day there was a special tool that fit in the jack placement fittings that allowed a standard garage jack to be used to lift the side of the car.  most German car garages had one or two on hand.  I bought one and kept it with the car.

  4. I think this is for either the third brake light in the spoiler, or more likely the engine compartment light.  The spoiler light is only activated when the spoiler is in the raised position.  The engine compartment light should come on when lid is open. 

    Alternatively, it could be the emergency speed brake parachute release connector. Chute deploys at hard braking from above 145mph.

    03 C4$.  Liked and would likely again put on PS2.  220 AA A rating also pretty good. I live in wet coastal climate with all roads in/out twisty and over hills.  

    Good Porsche country.  Little or zero snow.  So I can use summer tires all year without changing to all-season M&S.  Especially like PS2 AA traction in wet conditions.  How do other tires noted compare on sidewall ratings?

    Spouse drives X5 with Pirelli Scorpions, rated 520 A A.  That’s ok on big suv.  Wear important to her. 

    My former 911SC ran great on Potenza’s, as I recall rated 180 AA A, again year round use.  

    I’m often on the road in hot country in summer playing music.  Grip in heat and wet conditions my prime consideration.

    If we do get very cold, snow conditions and ice, which is rare, but does occur on the mountain occasionally, C4S stays home.

    Comments on PS4S treadware, traction, temp ratings will be welcomed and appreciated. 

     

  6. Appreciate your take on the tires. 

    I can say that I used several sets of tires by other makers, changing all 4 at a time, liking Pirelli P Zero rosso a lot, and Bridgestone Potenza as well.  But when I ran on the Michelin PS2 they were just simply the best.  

    I don’t even search for others now.

    I’m curious as to the basis of your comment re PS4S.  I haven’t thought about other tires in years.  

    Difference might be that my car is all-wheel drive 4$.
