  1. Hello folks...., Does any one of you ever changed the CV'S O'Ring on the right side of a 1999 Boxster... If so ,how hard is it and how long it takes to perform the job...mine is leaking now and i really hate that Thanks in advance Robert
  2. Thank to you Flybox..... You are right,on the right side and it smels different then the engine oil. I assume now i will heve to change the gasket or O ring on this side..... Thanks a lot Robert
  3. Hello folks..., This morning i had a look under my engine and i found a small oil drop(but not yet on the floor) under the tranny located exactly on the alluminium skid plate under the transmission. That was for sure motor oil and not tranny oil....the oil was light brown and clean. I was wondering how i can find motor oil under the tranny since it seems to have no oil leak between the engine and tranny (RMS....). I had a look at the engine and i did not see any oil leak at the IMS flange....i didn't see any.... Any idea from where the oil drop.. Thanks Robert
  4. Hello folks...., I was reading IMS fealure article and i was thinking that i read almost all the article regarding the IMS fealure and i do not remember any IMS fealure that belong with Boxster tiptronic tranny equiped...is that possible or just a coincidence...i certenly missed something. Thanks Robert
  5. Hello folks...., A friend of mine is the owner of a 1999 Boxster and he is in need fror a cluch replacement The questions are Is it hard to do and how many hour the dealer will ask to replace it Thanks in advance Robert 1999 Boxster Tiprtonic
  6. Hello folks...., Since yesterday the check engine light show code P0115(engine temp sensor). The Boxster is a 1999. The only thing i can say is that the engine never reach the 180 degrees. On the road it never goes higher then 140 degrees while the exterior temp is around 34 f....is this normal?Otherwise the engine run normaly and perfectly. I would like to know if this is normal and if not i will change as recomanded the engine temp sensor. I would also like to know if the sensor is the one located on top of the engine on the right side? Thanks in advance Robert
  7. Hello folks..., Just get the code P0115 this morning on my 2,5 liters 1999 What is that mean and i can i fix it Thanks Robert 1999 Boxster
  8. Thanks M........ you are right..... Yesterday i made the oil change and the oil was dripping by the oil plug...... Thanks again Robert
  9. Hello folks....., Please folks don't laugh at me but when you are talking about RMS.....where is located the rear of the engine.I mean i can find once in a while a oil drip on the garage floor and the drip is located closer to the middle of the car then near the rear bumper. Could it be a RMS leaking or if the drip should be near the rear bumper. Is the rear of the engine located face to the rear or to the front of the car. My car is a 1999 tip with 70K. Thanks Robert
  10. Hello folks... I'm cleaning my 1999 Bxster and i would like to know how can i adjust the emergency brake lever....For now the lever ''click" too many times when it is supposed to ''click'' just 3 to 4 times. Do i have to take off all the center console to do it ... Thanks in advance Robert
  11. Hello...., Maybe my thinking will be different then the other guy....., For what you say and for what i understand, the repair are for the starter end water pump and they are an easy DIY. You can get the parts on Ebay for very cheap and then have it fixed by your mechanic friend (we everybody have one somewhere) or you can do it yourself. If the airbag is missing you can also easely find it on Ebay or any good scrap yard for a cheap price. Just have the car inspected by a good mechanic or Porsche dealer and then you will know what the problems are and then decide if it worth it to buy it.But if it was me and can get the car for let say $8,500.00 i'll buy it. Good luck Robert 1999 Boxster tips
  12. Hello...., I have had the exact same problem last summer. Be sure you replaced the tray at the right place. The edge of the tray has to be placed inside the wings otherwise it will poor a lot of water....not easy to explain but just compare your installation with the one on the driver side.....you will probably find your problem.....by the way very easy to fix Good luck Robert
  13. The goose........, My friend 98 Boxster use to have the exact same problem last year (symptom). The problem was the bellows and not the AOS. If you can just lift the car and try to touch the bellows then you will certenly feel a hole behind it. Good luck! Robert
  14. Have you gotten and CEL's (check engine lights) and have you read the codes? Those will help you narrow down the cause(s) of your symptoms. There are a couple of telltale signs, aside from the CEL's, which will point to a possibly failing AOS: One is heavy oil deposits in the AOS J-tube and in the throttle body opening. A very light coating/misting is normal. Another sign is if you detect unusually strong resistance caused by excessive vacuum when you are trying to remove the oil fill cap with the engine idling. If there is only slight resistance, that does not point to the AOS. Also a failing AOS will often be accompanied by excessive smoke from the exhaust when the engine is running. It is sometimes massively excessive smoke, not the occasional slight puffs that are normal when first starting any flat six engine. Your best starting point is to get the codes read, if you have gotten any. Regards, Maurice.
  15. Loren........., Leather steering wheel.... Thanks Robert
  16. Hello folks...., Just out of curiosity..., Yesterday i had a look at my steering wheel and i was wondering if there was a way to renew the steering wheel as it was when new. 8 years later it lost at some point of it's luster... Any trick would be appreciated Thanks Robert 1999 blue Boxster
  17. Hello folks......., Just a follow up of my rendez vous at the Porsche dealer today. All i can say is that i received a really good service at a good price. I first met the Porsche mechanic and explained to him that i changed last week the non return valve and the electric change over valve. He immediatly said that i probably changed these parts for nothing because most of the time the problem is the air change over valve. So he used the computer and showed me that effectively the air change over valve was bad. He changed the valve in less then an hour and now everything is supposed to be fixed....we'ill see but the mechanic was sure about his diagnostic. So guys if you ever have problem with your check engine and codes p0410 and p1411 first go to the Porsche dealer and then he will tell you what is exactly your problem and it will cost you less then a hundred boxes to know it . Bye Bye Robert
  18. Hello folks...., I finally changed the 2 valves (the electric valve and the other one change over valve) on my Porsche 1999 Boxster but the check engine light still open almost each morning. I finally took a rendez vous to the ''stealer'' for the next monday. The codes thats apear almont each morning are always the same p0410 and p1411. I can hear the pump working but the stupide light is still there. This morning i called the dealer for the price of the Relay....$27.00....cheap.but the guy a the Porsche parts (a good friend of mine) told me that he does not have this part in stock because he never sold this part before....and he is working for Porsche dealer for more then 8 years now. Any idea....i don't want to spent a thousand box for a '' fu)(*&''check engine light. Thanks in advance Robert
  19. Thanks PTEC...., My question is.....If the problem is the coolant valve located on the heat exchanger (my car is effectivly a Tiptronic) what kind of symptom i can fill when the valve does not work properly.I'm still not sure but it looks like just before the check engine light open the tranny does not shift as usualy... Thanks Robert
  20. Hello folks...., From a couple of weeks now i get once in a while the P1411 or 0410 codes on my Boxster 1999, i reseted the codes but now it's time to fix it once for all. As the Air pump works correctly,it is easy to know that the problem is the electric change over valve and thte non return valve. I had a look at the workshop manuel but nowhere they said how to fix it and what to do to replace the valves. The only thing they said is that the valves are located under the trottle body or semewhere close to but not exactly how to replace it. Is one of you know how to fix it and if so please let me know Thanks Robert
  21. Hello folks..., Just out of curiosity..., When i use the key to lock the door of my 1999 Boxster when i turn it clockwise to lock the door i can see the little red light on the dash flashes one pulse/second but if i turn the key 3 times clockwise the little red light flash differently.....why...is there any difference Thanks Robert
  22. I used to have BMW cars (325 2001 and 2003) and i also had many problem with these cars....it cost me a lot just to maintain the cars on the road. They werre just daily driver likr the Porsche i curently own. If you ever go on the Bimmer forum (BMW) you will realize that BMW owner also have there lot of problem and i don't think that for this reason you can say that BMW are bad cars....Did you know that BMW 300 coupe series have stuctural problem....almost all of them the frame crack under torsion and it cost more then $3000.00 to fix it.....and this is just one exemple of a BMW problem. If you ever don"t like your Porsche just fix it sell it and buy a Toyota....then you will probably get reliability and for sure a real boring driver car. If you have any problem with your car the people here in this site will do there best to help you but i don't think this site exist for complainingabout the car we felt in love with.... So fix it and sell it and... Bye Bye Robert
