  1. I've had my hardtop on all winter so had forgotten about this. Today after a few weeks of putting up with the annoying clicks and squeaks coming from the roof I decided to investigate further. I smeared silicone grease on the parts shown in the picture posted earlier in this thread, on both sides. I also greased the rubber/plastic joints where the side frame folds. So far so good, I've been driving with the radio off just so I can enjoy the absence of click, click, click :)
  2. I second this. I don't use the dampers front or back. All sorted. Full fluid flush really made a difference, got quite a bit of cloudy fluid out of the rears which I didn't think were working as hard as they should be. Now the discs are nice and shiny so they're doing a lot more. Took it for a run earlier to start bedding in the new front discs. I was taking her up to about 60 mph and then braking heavily down to about 10mph. Repeated this 10-15 times. Is there much else I should do to make sure the new pads and discs start their lives off healthily?
  3. That's great but will they fit my 2006 Boxster S calliper? The damping pads have different size weights on the top/bottom. I'm sure the top and bottom pistons are the same size but the hollow which accommodates the damper is larger for the top weight. I see different size pistons on that site but there is no mention of the hollow dimensions.
  4. I was under the impression from the previous post that piston/seal sets aren't available?
  5. So what happened? I have exactly the same issue on my 987S. I've taken the piston out as I was planning to flush the fluid anyway, tried to drill out the screw in the middle so I can put another screw in (head was rounded) and blunted all of my drill bits getting about half way through the block. Even if I get through and manage to get a screw in there I don't think it's going anywhere. About to go mad and I can't believe I need a whole new caliper, that seems extreme. I can't believe a simple pad change has turned in to such a nightmare. What a stupid design. :angry:
  6. This is one of the best and is much better than a touch up pen from the dealer: Dr Colorchip Does this stuff actually work well? I have a few small chips from an egg some idiot threw at my car over xmas. I'm a little bit reluctant to start smearing paint on and rubbing it with solvents.
  7. I've spilt coffee on the climate control panel and the display has gone funny (still all works tho). I would like to take the unit out and give it a good clean / dry. Can anyone tell me how to remove the unit and whether or not this will cause problems with the onboard computer? Thanks.
  8. I have this problem with my Boxster, the sport button, pasm and rear spoiler button do not illuminate nor do they work. I'm getting no errors on the dash. Anyone have any suggestions????? It was caused by the button contacts being gunked up with spilt coffee. As he said above, the switches were removed, contacts cleaned and everything worked. You could also check the cables are connected properly.

  10. Did you use their H7 Ultimate HID Xenon Conversion Kit for your 987? I'm looking for a Boxster at the moment; if I can cross factory xenons off the list of must have options then I think it'll be slightly easier to find what I want! Justin, if you are asking me which kit I used, it's in my post above, it's from CQ Light www.cqlight.ca But I take it you are in the UK? Not to worry, I brought a 987 with Litronics.

  12. Game on. I’ve found a high spec Boxster S; grey with black leather and ali trim It’s maxed out with PASM, Sport Chrono, 19” wheels, new tyres all round, Satnav with phone prep, bi-xenon’s, Cruise, BOSE, embossed heated adaptive sports seats and a hard top. The only thing it doesn’t have is PCCB which is a bonus. It’s a 04/2006, 1 owner and 31,000 miles, serviced at 19,000 last July (I cross-checked this with the dealer). The previous owner has just replaced it with a new M3. It’s also just within budget at £29k. The manufacturer’s warranty expired last month and it’s a trade sale so there is no warranty included. There is another buyer interested but she hasn’t put down a deposit yet as she wants to trade in (could be rubbish but they seem decent enough and I’m sure a car with this spec will go very quickly). If I’m going to get it then I should let them know first thing tomorrow morning. The spec is perfect and the car spotless apart from a little scuff on the driver seat and one alloy with a very slightly scraped rim; both could be put right relatively cheaply if at all. I would plan to take it to an OPC, have a 111 point check, then take out an OPC warranty. My only concern is buying it with no warranty. I’m worried that the OPC might uncover something horrible or drum up ‘issues’ to get in some additional work before letting me buy a warranty. I’ve heard they can be a bit of a pain and my experience of OPC as a potential buyer so far isn’t great. What’s peoples experience in this situation? I would put down a deposit over the phone and obviously walk away if I noticed anything strange during the test drive (rather than hand over thousands for something I was suspicious of). It’s a tough decision – I might not find a nice spec car like this for quite a while and summer is in full swing! Could be in a new car by the weekend...

Thanks :) I've actually found a really nice one here but it's about £2k over my budget and the ceramic brakes scare me -- I've heard horror stories of people having to pay thousands of pounds to replace a disc! I test drove a 2005 model with PASM last week. It was a very nice spec car; I would have brought it if it didn't have terracotta leather (looks nice but I couldn't have lived with it every day). I thought the ride was impressively smooth for a sports car. I haven't driven an S without PASM, only a 2.7 and that was just around an industrial estate so I barely reached 25mph. At the moment my list of must have options are: Heated Sports seats PASM 19" wheels Decent colour combo like Silver/Black, Silver/Cocoa, Black/Sand, Blue/Sand (almost anything but that horrible blue leather or black on black which looks dull) Tracker Nice to have options are: BOSE Cruise control (can retrofit if need be) Xenons (can fit aftermarket if need be) Is that being too picky? I don't really want to spend this much on a car if it's not exactly what I want. On the other hand if I hold back too long the summer will be over by the time I find something! lol What kind of first year glitches should I watch out for if I can't find an 06 within my budget?

Hi guys, I'm currently looking to buy an 05/06 Boxster S and am finding it very difficult to locate one with PASM; those that do have it seem to be rather overpriced (i.e. comparing two similar spec cars, the one with PASM would be around £35k as opposed to £28k without). My question is whether or not it's worth holding out for? I'm not going to track the car (if I did I wouldn't be pushing it at all) but I do like that fact that the PASM lowers the car by 10mm which does give it a more aggressive stance. For day to day driving and the odd blast down a country lane will PASM make any noticeable difference to my driving experience? Thanks, Justin.
