  1. NXT......synthetic polymer protection Rejex.....synthetic polymer coating Sounds the same to me. This has been debated many times over on the rennlist board. Very similar products (my apologies for the "exact" comment). The idea, development, use, results are similar. I have used both and there is no difference. I can buy NXT locally, REJEX you need to mail order.
  2. Brake dust? Results? I use Meguire's NXT (identical to Rejex) and love it. I just wipe down the wheels and the dirt and dust just wipes right off!
  3. The fun factor gains are increased though :) Oh yeah.....and you don't have to worry about listening to that crappy stereo!
  4. N is not for years. N just indicates the iteration in that series of tire. Valcax, what seems to be the problem here is that you don't want to believe that your car could have done this by any means other than fault of THE CAR. You need to understand that driver error exists in ALL of us. The most experienced drivers have accidents. Quit trying to look for an excuse. Accept the blame. Get some DE's under your belt and then we will talk. At this point you just don't seem to want to accept that you messed up. Sad, because that is how accidents happen AGAIN.
  5. I have the factory painted silver (alumalook) door lid bins and pulls and have had them for quite some time now. Not a scratch to date and the wife wears bracelets, rings, etc.. Key is a GOOD paint job. Since these are factory I am sure the paint process is top notch and very scratch reisitant.
  6. I thought you said you car was a 986 base model? To each his own but if that is NOT a "S" model which it doesn't look like you really will be looked down upon in the Porsche community for slapping on a model designation that the car is not. My first mod would be to either take that "S" off or take the entire model designation off. Very poser-style. As for your accident. It appears that it is just cosmetic. New bumper, paint, etc. should be under $1K especially if you buy the parts used. One more thing, it's not the car you should have lost trust in. That car can handle more than you can give it. 99.9% of the time it comes down to driver error. Do some DE events and learn how to drive it. That is why I register for every one I can so I can learn to drive the car better. Go for a lap with an instructor driving your car and you will quickly learn how capable that car is.
  7. To go to RoWM030 you change out springs, shocks, and sways. Paul...the rear is an easy one to take a pic of. I'll try to remember to snap one tomorrow. C4 is right about where they are.
  8. I paid $650 for the install at an indep Porsche shop here in Vegas that has been here for over 30+years (Pres of the local PCA chapter owns it). The dealer wanted $1K.
  9. I did it and it was the perfect compromise b/t PSS9 and nothing at all. The car is lowered about 17-18MM in the front and about 11-12MM in the rear (PAG states 20/10 respectively). Much better feel and more planted to the road. A bit more harsh on city streets than stock but nowhere close to what PSS9 would feel like! The floaty feeling the car used to have is now gone and best of all? No 4x4 look anymore! BTW...I ordered mine from the board sponsor Sunset Porsche (1K shipped).
  10. Just as the topic states........... Can a passenger seat mount on the drivers side? Since I would be using the 5 point harness the side the seat belt attachment is on wouldn't matter to me PLUS the lever to slide the seat fore and aft I would prefer on the left side of the seat. So do the holes line up? TIA, Dell
  11. Where in the name of God are you located that you can't have a conv??? It is faster and easier to break the glass since the top of the P-Car has steel reinforcements. It's not like your typical ragtop in lesser cars that is just fabric over 2 or 3 1" pipes. But to answer your question, I have a 996CAB and love it with the hard top on it. Feels like a coupe (but 75# more). I just couldn't imagine not getting to drive topless :)
  12. My vote would be to keep them as is and clean them up unless you have to paint them. Red should be on 986S and any 996. Yellow ONLY on a car that has PCCB. Just my $.02
  13. Sorry it has taken so long to reply Berny but I was out of town for a week. Thanks for the compliment! I paid about $195 for the lip (dealer cost plus 15% from Sunset). Rumor has it that TRG has one for about $125 that is the same but not Porsche OEM. I really like the supercup lip better than the small lip that was on the original Mk1 spoiler.
  14. Loren. the Teq listing for the kit is listed as "rear carrera spoiler AND front lip spoiler from 8/01" listed as 000 044 802 04. If the only lip comes on the GT3 (Mk2) then what is the lip they are referring to? My guess is it is a misprint? GT3 lip compatible with the std bumper? Check out this link: http://porsche.parkplacestores.com/caresp.html It is written the same way as the Teq catalog. Something isn't making sense here.
  15. Best of luck to you both with your DIY painted in the garage look. I'd love to see the quality of your work and then compare it to a professional job. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Just remember, perception is subjective and therefore what you think is a good job compared to a job done by the professionals is just that.....your perception. I think Gundo said it best...."You can get a very good result with a modest amount of effort. But if you really want a Porsche quality result, Bumperplugs.com is the way to go" This post is not to endorse (although I would rec'd him) Eric at bumperplugs specifically, just making the point that I didn't say your perception of "good" is bad, it is just not a professional look. Because if it was, then you would be doing this as a business.
  16. Good call Don.....this same thread got WAY out of hand over on Rennlist.
  17. ah....that makes sense. If there are holes already in your bumper (which there should be) use those as the template.
  18. If it is the plate you are referring to then there should be screw holes. Not sure what the question is you are asking at this point.
  19. September at the Gorge is AWESOME!!! The most beautiful venue I have ever seen.
  20. That sounds great. I was in PDX last year for about a week when I went to go see DMB at the Gorge. I have a buddy that worked for Subaru near the airport. I'll keep my eyes out for conf of the Porsche Parade. If I am still on the west coast you can count me in!
  21. Jim there are two "rings" you need. One is metal about the size of a penny and goes on the oil drain plug. The other is a rubber (like the one in the picture above) that goes on the filter cover. The rubber one for the cover should be in the filter box, and the metal ring should be taped to the top of the box.
