  1. Anybody know the differnce between the two. I just put 0W-40 in the car as Porsche suggests but I saw 5W-40 right next to it at the auto parts store. Both labels say fully synthetic "super syn". About the same price as well (the 5 is about .50 cheaper). So what gives on the differnce between the 0 and the 5? By the way, I am talking about Mobil 1. I could care less about the $4-5 I would save with the 5W vs. the 0W since I am a DIY'er and would just like to know what the difference is between the 2 numbers. Many thanks for the feedback! -Dell
  2. Thanks for the offer. I'd really be intertested since this is the setup I am contemplating. Can't wait to see it! :jump:
  3. Good for you. I just had the same problem and my car just elapsed from the warranty to the extended warranty 2 months ago which DOES NOT cover the coolant reservoir (not sure I understadn that one). I did the same thing as you, told them that this is a documented problem and that my warranty just moved from full to exteneded. They met me halfway. They paid for parts and I paid for the labor (roughly 450 for labor--4.5 hrs at 95/hr)). Needless to say I am not impressed, but it could have been worse. They could have totally denied it and made me pay the whole thing.
  4. Oh that is so not fair! :notworthy: Not too much water here in Vegas to take my boat to the course. I too have only about a 1 mile or so commute to the course. You have it rough my friend. -Dell
  5. Are you a PCA member? If so, call the local members. They WOULD know. Good luck. Dell
  6. That's cheating. I think he was looking for a way to get they horizontal. Basically that is how they ride in my front seat. Having them free like that scares the crap outta me! Not to mention when I get to the bag drop I DO NOT let the valet kid take them out of the car for fear of him crashing the bag against the car trying to get them out. But........either way, the most important thing is that you are able to get to the golf course with your clubs! :jump:
  7. I know this doesn't exactly answer your question but it is probably faster and about the same cost to just buy the oil locally (Got mine at checker for 4.50/qt) and get your filter from your local dealer (if they do not price gouge). If they do, then order it from Sunset up in Oregon (about $9.75) and the oil wrench about $15. Super easy oil change, just did my first one this past weekend.
  8. I'd like to see that one <_< Is it a carry bag or a staff bag? Driver as well?
  9. Front seat, recline mode. That's what I do. The back seat is not an option. Which is why I usually take the ML to the golf course.
  10. I second that to the highest level! The greatest resource I have ever found. Thank Loren, cheers to you!
  11. I thought the boxster dash had the slanted buttons? Not straight like the 996. Or was that just for specific years on the boxster?
  12. Thanks TP for the pics. So the clips I am "pressing" are on the long sides of the plug not the short sides? Am I pressing them into the plug?
  13. I would like to know as well. THe guy at the body shop told me that I had no reason to coat the hood since it had chips but the GT3 bumper was fine since it was freshly painted. As well, I would like to know if that is the case. should I touch up the hood an have it coated? Should it been painted? Leave it alone?
  14. So I got stuck on step 3 of the DIY for changing the air filter. "3.Pull connecting plug off the mass air flow sensor by squeezing the connector clips." Couldn't get it to release and felt as though I might have broken a tab or two. Not sure. Anyway, I was able to change the air filter out without this step (pull out old one, insert new one). But....now that I think about it, I really want to clear the housing inside and out (as per instructions) and feel that I just half-a**ed this project. Any help or tips or getting the MAF sensor unplugged? Pics? Many thanks! Dell
  15. Thanks Don. I'll start letting my "fingers do the walking" in our local yellow pages :D
  16. Can't seem to find an installer here in Vegas and absolutely HAVE to get the clear bra installed. The construction here has destroyed my brand new aero spoiler :censored: Now I need to get it repainted and then I WILL have to have the clear bra put on. I have been calling around to no avail. Can't seem to find anybody that installs it. Has anybody done the install DIY??? It seems pretty straightforward but then again I am not a professional and do not want this to look just thrown on. Advice/Comments?
  17. Glad to hear it was something minor. Enjoy the topless days!
  18. take a look at the car of the month's gallery
  19. If you don't, let me know and I will give you my nose ultra-cheap! I just installed a GT3 front and saved my factory front. It is just going to collect dust.
  20. I'll give it a shot. I am hoping to find recommended oil, DIY instructions, etc. Thanks for the tip!
  21. Looks like a replacement is in the works. When they replaced mine, I had them replace the ENTIRE housing (both flaps and the middle section the covers the rollbars). They did fully under warranty. Initially they were just going to do the one flap but my argument was since this is a CAB, the fabric color fades faster and if they replace just the one flap it will be a different shade and look wierd. They said "good point" we will replace the ENTIRE housing.
  22. Trying to find a place for tech help similar to this one for Mercedes. Anybody have experience with any others? I want to start becoming a DIY'er (just had my last "included" maintenance) on the ML430 and need to find a board as GREAT as this one. Thanks everybody, Dell
  23. Just bought mine this week at sunset for $15 dealer cost plus 15% (about $17).
