  1. If it is even possible to have a worse dealer than the one I have here in Las Vegas, then you may be in trouble. I simple killed them with kindness and ask them if they would kindly turn on the mirror down feature, the auto-lock feature AND the OBC. They did all gratis. It took a whopping 5 minutes. All they do is hook up your car to their PST2 Tool and scroll through a few menus, find the one that has the features, and VOILA' it's all active. If they want to charge you for the service, then just tell them that they have got to be kidding and there is not a simgle person you have talked to that has been charged (friends from other cities on P-Car message boards). Then.......ask for the number to PCNA customer service so that you can comment on their service (they hate that!) For them to do this is one of the simplist PR strategies they can employ. Especially, the OBC which comes with EVERY car and they only turn on those which get the entire menu driven OBC. Some people just want the temp. And.....if I am not mistaken, the owners manual states there are several options that you can have (i.e., lock immediately, lock after 5 mph, no lock, etc.) and that you just need to visit your local dealer to "adjust" those items. I am curious to know how it turns out. keep me posted  -Dell
  2. Loren, I would assume that one has not been installed since this was factory new. I will just pick up one of the hinge kits. If you could email me the TSB that would help out. Thanks again!
  3. Can you tell from this picture what it will support? I would prefer the metal hinge of course but whatever this is tailored for I will go with. Thanks Loren!
  4. So here are two pictures showing where I have gotten. Looks like I need to have this metal bar installed on my new rear center console. Why? This bar appears to be riveted on (NOW WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT?). Picture from rear shows that there are 2 upside down U shaped metal things that are inserted into the small cubby holes and the top picture show the metal bracket that has 2 rivets shot down into the U shaped things. QUESTION: Do I just need to go to the dealer and tell them I need that bracket riveted onto my new console? I need to act fast since the console lid is in a million pieces on my dining table (top and bottom lid assembly, screws, springs, a couple rods, and a cloth "catch"). My poor lonely ALUM CONSOLE in the car is incomplete :(
  5. Well, I just got the aritc silver aluminum look rear console this morning :jump: ........but I just got 95% with the removal of the old one and installation of the new one. Only problem is that the hinge and lid assembly appear connected by 2 rivets????? How in the world is this supposed to be removed to put on the new one??? HAPPY HOLIDAYS ALL!!!!!!!
  6. I have a 2000 996 with the standard clear lights and want to upgrade to litronic lights. Do I have to stay within a certain year range (similar to body parts, 99-01) or can I use the the newer looking litronics (996 631 059/060 20) MY02+????? Also, on the MY 02+ lights, what is the difference between the 996 631 059/060 20 lights and the 996 631 055/056 50 lights??? Visually they appear identical. Thanks again for the input!
  7. That may be just the product I was looking for! Much thanks
  8. Yes........but, i am interested in changing to a black top. Thanks for the input though.
  9. I can never fully understand some people! That can't be aerodynamically sound :o
  10. My top has faded considerably to the point the point that my grey top looks khaki! Looks good against the Arena Red paint (burgandy) when the top is up, but......when it is down it clashes so bad with the grey read decklid and grey interior. What options doesn't anybody know of short of paying the $4K+ for a whole new top/window/etc. replacing just the canvas is out since they have to do the whole burning of the rear plastic window in. Possible to have it dyed? I was thinking black :) (2000 996 C2 CAB).
  11. Mark, I just had my hardtop painted and they had to "disassemble" the hartop so that the only thing near the paint guin in the spray room was the actual shell ONLY. I would ask questions first if I were you to get that cleared up. The last thing you want is overspray or even paint to slide through the masking job. Mine turned out very professional since there was no masking needed. VERY CLEAN LINES :clapping:
  12. s8, thanks for the info. I am going to get an estimate from my paint guy
  13. So the pieces that are ALUM look are in fact just ABS painted arctic silver (L92)? My exterior is not artic silver but I have the alum look pieces in the interior. I just nned to know what paint code to give the body shop guy. He has several 1X1 sheets of metal that have Porsche paint on them with the code written in sharpie to match. If I give him L92 he will just pull that sheet (and a few similar) to compare. Just wanted to make sure I have the right to code as a reference point. Thanks Loren!
  14. Are the OEM ALUM pieces from the dealer just ABS painted Arctic Silver? I am thinking of just haveing the body shop here in town paint my console with the paint v. buying a new console ($200 v. $500). They have the factory paints. I would just need to give him the paint code. Anybody know it?
  15. Are you talking about one of the three lights in the main housing (high, low, fog) or the side light on the fender?
  16. I have decided that I want to get the rear center console (Alum look 986 552 995 09) for my 996, I already have the wheel, door bin covers, handles and instrument surround. I was wondering if anybody has painted the rear center currently in the car instead of spending the $500-600 for the OEM Alum look piece. If painting....is the color something easy to track down?
  17. On the bottom section of my console is (1) cubby hole and (1) EQ unit with the hi-fi buttons, etc. Is this something I can remove without affecting the system? I want to install a GPS monitor in that space. The cubby hole will just "pop" out,......it is the hi-fi EQ I am worried about.
