  1. You realize that spark plugs are at 60K miles and Tranny fluid at 120K miles?
  2. On a 2006? What kind of mileage do you have. Spark plugs and tranny fluid seems WAY soon on that car.
  3. TP....since you say 996 line of cars does you mean all 996 (ie, 99-05)?
  4. So, anybody think that the assembly that came out of my 2004 GT3 will work in a 2003 C2? The part number is the one that ends in 04 but as Loren noted that is for the 99-02 cars. I am so confused and do NOT want to give this to another person without knowing if it will fit first.
  5. The unit that I removed from the car did NOT have the green plate which I assume was removed by the previous owner's installer putting in the B&M SSK. On my new assembly, I didn't even think to remove the green plate and verify the part number beneath it. I did take the "word" of the sticker that was on the assembly that had the 986 part number. So, whatta ya think? The assembly I removed with the 996 424 010 04 part number is one that is the same in all 9X6/7 cars? I know that the B&M SSK part number applied to all those models according to the B&M website. So who do you think I can give the assembly to in confidence it will fit? Here is a pic of the one I removed. You can see the 996 part number.
  6. That's odd that my 2004 GT3 has the 996 MY99-01 assembly? Never can understand PAG sometimes.
  7. O.K., so I just installed the new shifter assembly (986 424 010 03) and removed my factory assembly that the B&M SSK was installed into. Well, guess what the part number stamped on this one is? 996 424 010 04! What in the world is going on here? So I am guessing they are ALL the same assembly with different numbers? So confused.
  8. So then the assembly application is EXACTLY as you posted the picture of nothing more nothing less? Only reason I ask is that it appears that the B&M SSK itself is for ALL 986, 996, and the 05 997 models. I guess the stocky assembly that holds the shifter is what is different. 97-04 Boxster 01-05 996TT 04-05(?) 996GT3 I just want to make sure that whomever I give this assembly with the B&M SSK already in place gets the right part.
  9. I assume 97-04 Boxster "includes" 996 as well? I do NOT see any 996 other than 01-05 TT and 04GT3. wrljet.....VERY notchy and difficult to make the 2-3 transistion especially under lateral g's.
  10. Part #986 424 010 03 What models does this assembly fit? Is it EVERY one of the 996 line? I currently have a B&M shifter in my car and decided to order a new entire assembly (part# above) so I can just remove the entire assembly that has the B&M SSK in the car (4 bolts and 2 cables) and pass along to another owner. I love the B&M on the street but HATE it on the track thus the reason for my switch. I just want to make sure when I remove the assembly that is in the car right now that I have the right 996 models that it will fit into so anybody that wants the B&M SSK will be able to (1) fit it in their car properly and (2) make it easier so there is no destruction of their original assembly. Thanks!
  11. CPO can only be sold by the dealer or transfered private party to private party. Now if you have a relationship with the dealer (or the seller does) you can get it CPO's having the private party sell it to you through the dealer (as a pass thru). Then the dealer makes the $$$ on the CPO and would also get an $$$ for work required to CPO the car.

  13. Are you sure they are warped? VERY VERY VERY difficult to warp one of the rotors. You probably just have uneven pad material build up. Re-Bed your pads in and you will probably see your vibration vanish. Stoptech has a tech section on their website that has a good procedure to follow.
  14. Supply them with a can of ATE then or tell them you will top it off and bleed when they complete their work. Also, they have it backwards on the flush. The ATE can go longer than lesser fluids. Also, you CAN mix other DOT4 with it. Personally I wouldn't but you can.
  15. And why do they need to flush the system? And where does it state in writing that PCNA will prohibit ATE brake fluid? It is one thing to rec'd not to use something but a whole 'nother to specifically state that it is NOT authorized for use in the car. Guess what? Not everybody uses Mobil1!!! Ask them what type of brake fluid is used in the cup cars? And why can't you flush your fluid every six months according to their rec'd for this fluid. I have used ATE in mar car for years and NEVER had a problem at the dealer.
  16. That is CRAP! That is the equivalent of them telling you that your warranty is voided for using a higher than 93 octane gas. They are feeding you a line of crap and seeing if you are just naive enough to just pay it. I am not sure about the process to change out the brake booster and if it involves draining the fluid or not but to want to charge you b/c they don't like the color of your fluid is just wrong. I would IMMEDIATELY talk to the GM of the dealership and complain about their desire to charge for something that has NO bearing on your situation.
  17. Just got done replacing the airfilter on my Cayenne V6. It is very easy and took me a total of 15 minutes to do. I took a few snapshots of the process. (I KNOW, I KNOW, MY ENGINE BAY IS FILTHY!) 1. First you need to remove the right side engine compartment cover. It is held on by 4-45 degree turn plastic screws. They are easy to remove and also easy to drop down in the engine bay if not careful! Ask me how I know. Once removed, set the cover off to the side. 2. Next you need to remove the 2 plastic pins that hold the connection in place between the air intake and the air filter box. They turn 180 degrees and then lift out the pins. If you look closely you can see a convex notch on one side of the housing and a concave notch 180 degrees on the other side. The two notches on the housing are at about "12 and 6 on a clock". 6 is the locked position and 12 is the remove position. 3. Pull apart air intake hose from air filter box. It is held in place by the two pins and has a rubber seal that creates resistance. 4. Once removed, unclip the 2 metal clips on the top of the air filter box that holds together the two vertical halves of the air filter box. 5. Remove the left vertical cover to the box and you will see the air filter in place inside the right half. 6. Remove the air filter. 7. Reverse the above steps and you are good to go. Hope this helps. I just did mine at 14K miles instead of the suggested 40K miles (**which I still don't understand**) since the Cayenne spent the first 12K of those miles in the dusty Vegas desert and then went on a 2500 miles trip to my new home. To be honest though, the filter could have easily gone a while longer. It really wasn't that dirty.

  19. Sure will! Pics and all. I am waiting for my filter to arrive from Sunset and I will do both air filter and oil change at the same time. Looks like the end of next week.
  20. Doing an oil change this week and want to make sure I don't have a dirty air filter that needs replacement. Been through the DIY's and TSB's and found nothing outlining the process to change it. Anybody done this yet? Where is the air filter? TIA! :cheers:
