  1. Topless:

I share the same thought when I thought about changing speakers on the car. I had a nice kenwood mp3 deck, nice amp /w a set of Focal 6.5" components on my previous car and obviously my stock non-bose system is a noticable downgrade. BUT, doing an overhaul on the whole system is just not worth it cost wise and a convertible (except for Lexus SC430, which supposedly has an awesome sound system) will never provide decent acoustics to begin with.

I think the best I'll do is just get the Dension gateway 500 installed so I can plug in a USB stick for MP3s.

Hey, when the top & windows are down I hear shiat all anyhow...

  2. Got chrome plated lug nuts from GMP performance and they are exact reproductions of the OEM bolt. A 2 piece bolt that just doesn't corode up like OEM. They are expensive though. I'm happy with them. I just don't think powder coating would hold up to everyday use. I think Porsche might make black plastic bolt caps to hide th eugly lug bolts?

Chrome will eventually chip off and rust.

I got the 1-piece staineless ones on ebay instead.

  3. If anyone actually go on the Porsche website it actually says this as one of the new features.

"Is there anything that feels as right as executing a gear change in a Porsche Boxster? It’s a feeling engineered in the Boxster to jumpstart your pulse rate each time your right hand makes its move. Rapid gearshifts on both models are achieved with a short-throw mechanism offering a 26% (five-speed) and 15% (six-speed) reduction in gear-lever travel from that of previous models."

  4. One tip: before you reinstall the console, take the car for a drive to make sure all gears engage as they should. Once confirmed, reinstall the console and enjoy. :)

Thanks for the tip Cassie. Upon putting the shifter into 1st and 2nd... it instantly brought a huge grin on my face. Travel distance is PERFECT, I don't see why I would need a shorter length of shift than what this offers. It has a MUCH more positive feel engaging gears compare to the loose stock shifter.

This is definitely what the 986 should have come from the factory... makes me fall in love with driving it all over again. B)
