I'm now told (by my local 'indie') that it's probably a failing piston and it may well need a new engine.
Cam covers and cams off with boroscope down the plug hole to find out ;-(

How do you get these off and re-fit them.
Mine are half loose and rattling.
Are they adjustable?
2004 Targa

By the time it's revved to 3k it's gone.
Just one tappet, I think.
Oil pressure seems good (5 bar at 3k)
More than 1 bar at tickover.
Don't know what oil (only just got the car) but I'd guess at Mobil 1

Tappet rattle at tickover when hot - should I worry?
2004 Targa tip, 53k miles

It won't read the Nav disks, and when it plays an audio CD it sounds like a very scratchy record (radio, etc sounds fine)
Any ideas (other than to bin it!)
Can it be fixed??
It's in an early 04 Targa.

Did you get anywhere with this?
I have the same problem..

What's the latest on this?
Surely one of the MOST- bridge adapter developers has made something work by now that doesn't need the whole amp/speakers being replaced....

Bump - me too ;-)

What's the latest on doing this (Pioneer or Kenwood) on a 'MOST' equipped 996, with Bose 'upgrade' already installed?
Under performing seal

What's the latest news?
I might be getting mine fixed soon, so I'd like to know what's the best fix (using Mike @ Sports & Classic, Knutsford)
