  1. I would have the tire balance checked again, and maybe do an alignment. That should remedy the shimmy at 40mph.

As for the tight suspension and "feeling" every bump in the road, normal. Mine rides like a Mac truck compared to my

Toyota Camry, but I don't take diminishing radius turns at 50mph in it either. I think its just the low profile of the Porsche

tires that contribute to the rougher ride, like all the other cars with thin profile tires.

    Happy Porsching!

  2. Well a little while back I posted that my alarm key fob would not activate the alarm and that I had the two blinking bars( alarm fault).

After two trips to the dealer to have new keys programmed to the car, I get the car back and low and behold, the two blinking lights are still

    doing their thing!

Among the other hassles, paying for an extra key and not getting it. Waiting as they programmed the second key because the forgot about it, I was not

too happy about the alram fault. I mentioned it to the mecahnic (Porsche mech. mind you), and at first he said maybe the glovebox or center console was

the culprit. OMG! I told the Service mgr. that when I first took the car in!

To make things worse, after dinking around with his laptop trying to see what was up, he then told me(don't take a drink of anything please)...........

That the two blinking lights were NORMAL!!!

I decided to make haste away from the Dealer before I said something Bohemian, and I figure I will order the Durametric software and try fixing it myself.

Now a couple of questions for the Forum, will I do anything to the alarm system by not taking care of the alarm fault ASAP??

Secondly, this is for my wife's benefit, the only thing that should be blinking on a correctly functioning alarm should be the single LED on tthe little center

    bump correct??

    Thanks for reading my rant.

  3. Take a knife and shave some filings from the part. Take filings and make a pile and try to light it with a cigarette lighter.

If it is in fact Magnesium it will catch fire and burn hot and white! Aluminum will only get hot but won't burn. I am guessing

the part to be aluminum. Magnesium is only really used in applications where weight is a major concern. As in the new

    laptop computers for example.

Good job on the repairs, I for one am watching this thread with great interest. Plenty to learn about the Boxster. :renntech:
