  1. Do your research. I chose FVD. Perfect sound. Not obnoxious either. Excellent material but costly.
  2. No I don't have a sound clip. I chose FVD over others because they carry a two year guarantee. The exhaust note after 1500 miles is starting to gurgle, growl and scream . . . as it was designed to do. I'm extremely happy with my choice, too. I didn't want that obnoxious and attention getting noise either. I get that from my 1969 muscle car. I wanted the "pure" Porsche sound that has subtle symphonic notes to it at idle and a rock 'n roll note at wot. FVD is German TUV made/approved. No gimmicky stuff here but true quality and great customer service. When a mistake was made on measurement with the first set of mufflers sent to me Willie Brombacher himself tried them on his 996 and discovered the error. He then had them corrected in Germany and forwarded to me in California in three days. Speaking of service . . . you can't beat that. I hope this helps. FVD is the way to go, in my opinion.
  3. I spent literally months researching exhaust systems. Too loud, too tiny, poor materials were found. I chose FVD. German made and backed by Willie Brombacher himself. The new sound is incredible, muscular and not obnoxious. At wot it puts out a beautiful note.
  4. Seriously now. You have to grow up and make good choices and not call your wife by "daft." She needs to know why Porsche is the car of your choice and that you love your Porsche almost as much as you love her. However, if you have a hidden agenda, I can see where that might be a problem. Good luck.
  5. Purchase CRC Throttle Body and Air Intake Cleaner and go to the DIY section and see how its done. I did this to mine . . . cleaned out the sludge, etc. This is a great place to be for all DIY's.
  6. First of all, congratulations on purchasing a 996 C4S. Its a great car that you find to love and drive. I own one and have had no problems whatsoever with the transmission gears and other parts . . . and I did not buy it from a Porsche dealer but a import company that I trust. I did a lot of research on where to purchase my Porsche (years) and finally found the one that I wanted. Actually, I chose it over a 997 4S. Its all in the wide "hips" and rear view isn't it? Regarding your dilemma, I would hold the mechanic/dealership accountable for misleading you. There are laws that protect consumers but without knowing the mileage, car fax and integrity of the dealer/person you purchases the car from it would be difficult to determine whether you bought "as is" or "buyer beware." A lot of Porsches are sold before the "big" 60,000 mile service because they have been abused/neglected but not all. I was lucky because I did my research and am picky when it comes to having someone work on my Porsche. Good luck to you. You've got a beautiful Porsche . . . so go to "battle!"
