  1. does anybody have this problem? this just started happening to my car recently.

    i got a 01 boxster s

when i use the radio everything is fine but then when i switch to a cd, (6 disc cd changer) sometimes i get this static noise and then it just gets louder to where you cant hear the song anymore..

i was wondering if there is a way to fix this.

ive tryed differnt cds and it does it to all of them but sometimes it doesnt do it.

Do you get the same static noise if you tune your radio to an AM station, or is it just limited to your cd playing?

    Regards, Maurice.

nope only when i play a cd. i was thinking maybe something isnt grounded but i dont know much about this car

  3. See attached PDF with selected pages one engine torque values. I didn't have time to find that pully nor know exactly which one you are having issue with. If there is no value for that pulley on the list you can possibly estimate it from other pulley bolts of comparable spec.

    torque_specs.pdf

So did you find the bolt too?

I still say noise = replace, there is a reason it came out even if it's human error. The pulley is going to be inexpensive compared to a overheated engine (again).

Find out which pulley you need and drop the number to Sunset Imports (site sponsor) and get it ordered.

ya thats true, park place porsche over here in dallas, tx quoted me 70 bucks not to bad like you said compared to a overheated engine

  4. noise = replace.

Please explain how it fell off. I recall you other post and I don't know that pulley from experience, but I have never seen an idler or tension pull "fall off" unless there is massive failure of bearings.

ya remember me from the other post about my serpentine belt. well the belt didnt brake it was the tension pulley, it fell off and some how it stayed on that plastic liner on the bottom i found it and put it back home then drove the car home. the car is running fine but theres just that loud noise.

  5. ive searched and searched and i still cant find out what the torque specs are.

    can anybody help me....

i need the torque specs for a

2001 boxster s, tension pulley (accessory)

and if it squeaks should i put a little lube grease or wd-40

or should i replace it??? it fell off before and i had to put it back in so im not sure how to tell if its still good or not. i put it back on and everything is working fine but its making this loud squeaking noise

  6. It could be a combination of things. It could be that you either might not have enough coolant/antifreeze in the radiator, you have a problem with the radiator itself, or you could need a new thermostat. Take it to a reputable repair shop and get it checked out.

Your way off with all the symptoms pointing to the belt. To many system failures to be anything but the belt.

    thanks for all the help,

i found out the problem, the tension pully fell off :( so i had to put it back on and changed the belt because the belt that was on it was pretty tight so im guessing it was unscrewing the tension pully at the same time, i have to go replace the battery now thou

  7. This is not unique to Porsche but of any symptom of any car in the world! I'm going to guess you are not a strong DIY'r so you'll have to flat bed the car to an independent Porsche shop.

You simply have a broken serp belt which (guess what) powers the water pump (cooling), alternator (battery light) and power steering pump!

thanks for the help thats what i was guessing because i had that on my lexus is300 it was all powered by the serpentine belt. do you think my water pump and thermostat is going to be bad??

  8. i just bought my 2001 porsce boxster s had 41 almost 42k miles and i barely had it for a week. currently has 42,090 miles

i was driving home last night and then the battery light turned on then my car temperature jumped all the way up. it keeps overheating and when you just turn the key all the way but not turn on the car. on the right of where the mileage is i think its the oil level but its in between the line is that right or is it supposed to be past the top line?

what is causing my car to overheat i think its the thermostat. but i dont know how to get to the engine can some1 help me!!

    thanks

  9. Cooling fans are located behind the front radiators which are in each front corner of the car, you should hear/feel them coming on at the same time.

so will it be coming from both sides of the front? or just that one side i havent checked the other side

thanks for the help thou. i was just wondering because everywhere i go and i am driving slow you can see all the dust being blown up.

    thanks again,

    pat

  10. i just bought a 2001 porsche boxster s with 42k miles

i live in texas and it gets around 102 degrees around this time

i noticed that there is a loud noise sounds like a fan and when i put my hand under the front bumper on the driver side you car feel a strong air blowing out of there. is this normal on all models or is there something wrong??
