  1. Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and I hope I have found one where there are some true Porsche fans. I am from Geneva (Switzerland), by the way. I have found a 964 for sale. It's a 1990 model C4 with approx. 65k miles on it (or 105'000km ; it is a european model, not US). First, let me describe it to you. It's not a common 964, it has a widebody kit, different bumpers (front and rear), two exhaust pipes, a race steering wheel, aluminium pedals (clutch, brake, gas), upgraded clutch and flywheel from SACHS, a tuning kit that contains : Air flow meter, Tuning-Chip, Air temperaturesensor, Sport-Airfilter, Sport Catalytic exhaust (100cell). The kit adds 50hp, so the car has 300hp and 380NM (it should do 0 to 100km/h in 4.8sec) The car has some options : sunroof, A/C (that doesn't work, gas must be filled in)... the seats are in good condition. Ok this was the good part, now comes things that I don't feel well with : I have tried the car, I was impressed by how a tough car it is, so stiff but still confortable, the clutch is very hard. BUT, with 300hp I'd think it might go faster, and I have an Audi S4 B5 that runs 0 to 100km/h (0 to 62) in 5seconds, I knew that this Porsche was something like 5.5, because the S4 would eat it. So the owner told me that he took back the chip and replaced it with the stock one because he thinks the car is too much brutal for him with 300hp, he said the car now has something like 260hp because of the exhaust and air filter (which might be true), and with the exhaust it produces an outstanding sound. The idle of the car is sometimes a little bit unstable (just a little) and the car feels lazy in first gear, but I learned by reading on the internet and forums that it is because of the all wheel drive transmission (it is heavier and uses more power than a Carrera 2). With only 65k miles, the engine doesn't look clean at all. The widebody kit looks great but wasn't properly assembled : you can see little bumps where it has been cut/installed. The paint quality is a shame, it looks like it has 1 layer (they painted it completely after the widebody kit was mounted with the bumpers). The car is mounted on some 16" rims and it looks funny because of the wide body (the size is something like 205/55/16 front and 225/50/16 rear)... So there's quite a lot of things to change/repair : paint, rims, and I don't think it has 65k miles, it's more like 120k (but the seats are looking good so I'm not sure). I think there's no proof that the owner has repaired the common problems of the earlier 964's (like the ignition problems). Also, a very important point for me : how can I be sure the car wasn't stolen, how can I verify this and be sure of it ? I asked the owner what is the top speed of the car, he told me it's about 240kph (150mph), which I can't believe in because a stock 964 can run about 165mph, so how fast should a 300hp 964 run ? Also, I wouldn't consider buying the car if I can't try it with the 300hp setup (I would then try to check the top speed of the vehicle in order to be sure what is it all about...). The price asked is 22k $. Any advice would be appreciated, Thank you.
