  1. For those of you who have a Davis car chip. Have you ever measured Mass Air Flow? What did you get for numbers?
  2. Don't know about Ct, but in Ca if the machine senses a CEL it's an auto failure regardless.
  3. The pat answer is most readers will do it, or you can go to AUTOZONE and they will do it.
  4. Right now the only code I get is 102 or something like that. Recognizing no signal from the MAF. It's only been a few days though. What I'm wondering is, if I understand correctly with the MAF disconnected the computer goes to some default programing. In this default programing mode would the lean/rich conditions still be achieved? Also any one have an idea what a graph of a correctly functioning O2 sensors voltage should look like?
  5. I'm trouble shooting my CEL. I've mostly been getting 1123's and 25's, once I got 24 and 26. I've disconnected the MAF, the car runs much better when cold. It used to be until it warmed up it stumbled at around 2K. So technically speaking with the MAF disconnected and if the problem was related to another fault in this condition would I still be able to get the lean/rich faults? As a side note what should the O2 sensor voltage look like graphed?
  6. Sorry about that. I would have thought that 986/S are models and the level of trim what options one chooses. My mistake.
  7. The "S" is a little more than the trim level. Performance wise, engine displacement brakes, I think even suspension it is a cut above.
  8. Yes that's me. Regarding the tube. I seem to be getting fluid from it. Yours just points down?
  9. This has been driving me nuts. The power steering over flow on my car is a 6 or 8 inch hose that dumps right on the drivers side cylinder bank or in the case of this last time # 4 injector. How is yours routed?
  10. These guys are being far too kind. It sound like a rod knocking to me. I hope it's one of these more benign diagnosis. As was said check the simple stuff first. The old cars used to pull head studs and you might get a noise like that. I don't think that is applicable here. In fact I'm sure of it, you'd have a coolant leak if that was the case.
  11. Thanks for the info. I'm going to do some playing around this week end.
  12. I'm really trying to determine if the info the Davis car chip is giving me can help me trouble shoot or not. What exactly is the "short term" and "long term" fuel trim?
  13. Thanks, I'm aware of that post and appreciate the reference. I'm really trying to determine if the info the car chip is giving me can help me trouble shoot or not. What exactly is the "short term" and "long term" fuel trim?
  14. I'm trying to trouble shoot mt CEL codes 1123, 1125. I picked up a Davis Car Chip the other day. In the trouble log at the time of the code the chip lists long term and short term fuel trim. Short term is -16% or so and long term is + 16% or so. Does any one have any idea what this is telling me?
  15. I did. Although the listings are for 996, I figured they were the same for the 986. One reason why I ask is they are listed as lean, where previously I thought 1123 was a rich condition. I'm also looking for suggestions on how to remedy the situation.
  16. My CEL was re set. It came back on yesterday. I'm running the car chip it recorded 1125 and 1123. CAn some one give me some suggestions? It also recorded some trim info but I'm at work now and can't access it. I do have the file though.
  17. No, I wouldn't say it's smoking excessively. On occassion on start up i'll get a puff of white smoke for a few seconds, but it clears quickly. It has 94K.
  18. I would like to determine if one of my injectors for 1-3 is leaking. Can I pull the injectors re connect them to the fuel rail and turn on the key? I figure turning on the ignition with out actually cranking the engine would pressurize the system and I may observe dripping if one leaked.
  19. What we are getting is P1123 and that's it. Any ideas?
  20. Unfortunately I don't know this is what the shop says. I think it's only the one code. They can't find anything wrong. They feel it may be a slight vacuum leak that causes it to richen at hwy speed and then brings in the code at idle. I'll know more today when I pick it up. The plan for now is to reset the code and then see what happens.
