  1. Hey Gang- I have searched and found similar topics but not exactly.....my question: Is it possible to purchase a slightly used Cayenne key and transfer the guts or circuit from my programmed OLD worn key to the new one without dealer? I can see how you can pop the cotter pin out and swap the KEY portion itself BUT is it possible to crack open the key itself without damaging it? THANKS!
  2. Here's mine.....sure do love it a 2004 CS - Factory 20 Techno's...clear corners...also added a turbo cluster.... soon to add roof rails and MoBridge
  3. I bet Loren is better equipped to handle this question than I am since my experience was with a 2004 and yours is a 2008. I did eventually get the turbo cluster working perfectly in my 2004 Cayenne S with the exception of the bar guage which I never expected to function for obvious reasons. Back to the issue of cost- I believe I scored a great bargain when I purchased the cluster itself for $400. I then paid my local Porsche dealer- Braman Porsche in West Palm Beach for one hour of labor @ $150 for the first attempt to program it with the PIWIS computer - the techs are rather nice there but the service manager and advisors leave much to be desired......conversely I found a TERIFFIC shop locally called Stahl Motorsports who eventually solved the reprogrammimg problem- I had to pay for 4 hours of time since they researched the programming and had to spend some time emailing and downloading and uploading programming info with some UK colleagues of Stahls. They did tell me that if they ever had to do the cluster programming again the time would only be an hour or two since I have already paid for all the "groundbreaking" lol All in all- I LOVE the turbo cluster, if you are into small details like I am it makes a HUGE difference.
  4. UPDATE - FINAL (I hope) I took the Cayenne S to the good people at STAHL MOTORSPORTS here in town. They were highly recommended and I can see why. Many nice Porsches there. Initially there was not much luck reprogramming my new cluster. Upon contacting some other Porsche techs in the UK, Stahl uploaded my CS programming info and the techs in the UK processed that and sent a new program to Stahl which they transfered to my CS/new cluster. BINGO error message removed for Air Suspension- ALSO error for TPS GONE as well. Finally- I have seen in previous posts a problem with graphics on the comfort screen- NO such problem with my CS- all lined up properly. All functions of the on-board computer work as previously (locks, lights, clock etc) ALSO the same graphics from the radio AND the Navi still appear on the new cluster screen but alas in full color. Speedo working as well along with trip odometer and transmission indicator. In summation- the mileage odometer still retains the mileage on the actual cluster ( This can be fixed) AND the BAR guage is NON functional. Pix slightly blurry from my phone PM for better pix if you like. Thanks to all who have watched and posted info here especially Loren. I hope my experience helps others- I welcome any PM's to enthusiasts attempting same project. THANKS!!
  5. Am I understanding this correct in that ALL successful swaps of turbo clusters into CS models have transitioned into Cayenne S models ALL with air suspension option>?
  6. UPDATE- Cayenne is at a hi-po Porsche shop with a very good reputation. ( some seriously badass cars too!) So far no luck they have emailed some folks in the UK who they corrospond with to so see if there is any more insight. Seems like this turbo cluster swap may only work if you either HAVE the adjustable air suspension or you turn off that option before removing from the turbo vehicle, even at that I suspect the cluster may still look for the air option.....more tomorrow.
  7. Loren- A local shop with a device like a PIWIS ? Would that be any local repair shop that deals with Porsches? Will I be better off with the turbo cluster IN or OUT of my car for attempting to turn off the programming option? THANKS!
  8. Loren- I know this sounds somewhat absurd but....is there any way a far less sophisticated hand held read/reset tool would be capable of clearing the air suspension warning? I am just about to give up here in so much as I would hate to go back to the led screen on the regular cayenne s - it sure has been a tease seeing that full color Porsche splash screen and colorful speedo etc- all no good if I can't get anything past the air suspension error! THANKS!
  9. NOTHING....its is not functioning but the least of my problems.....cant access any on board computer programming until the air suspension warning is cleared
  10. I am having this same problem trying to clear the " WARNING AIR SUSPENSION " If anyone has resolved thie please post how or PM me......I dont care about the comfort group graphics I need to clear the air suspension warning to see ANYTHING except for mileage, time, temp , mileage and the porsche splash screen. I even visited my dealer today with the new turbo cluster installed to try and get that warning cleared with PIWIS computer...no luck. PLEASE ADVISE....has anyone out there overcome this issue>?
  11. Thanks Loren......does that mean I will need the original VIN (for the turbo) that we removed when we entered my VIN (Cayenne S)? Sorry folks, this is all BS. Rule of thumb with a warranty is that the car has to fulfil certain guidelines. One of those guidelines is that the car must be in 100% condition. IE, original as it was manufactured. This means that even if the Porsche dealer sold you the new part, the warranty on the vehicle will be affected as the cluster is not originally supposed to be in the car, it was not designed to operate with that model. One has to bear in mind the diffecrnt voltages and apage draws on an lcd screen as opposed to the normal screen. There is also the warning configuration and gauge calibration to be taken into account. None of this wil be acurate without changing the sensors aswell...The dealer however will only offer a spare part warranty on the cluster if it is purchsed from them but to order it, you need to provide them with a vin number and proof of ownership. again if the cluster is not fitted to the intended vehicle, they do not have to honor the spare part warranty. If you want to do it right and keep the warranty.... buy a turbo vehicle...
  12. Loren- Do I understand you correct in that the DME reprogram is done by the PIWIS computer? reprogram as a turbo and then turn off the air suspension or remove it or delete it or? Then back to CS ? Thanks so much!
  13. Thanks again if that is the last of my options I suppose I'm out of luck! Is there anything I might pass on to tech to remove that air suspension warning? Even if it means paying for another hour? Thanks thanks!
  14. Loren and gang..no luck at all at dealer. Piwis computer was used as I watched the tech..could not remove the air suspension warning message..even entered my vin tech noted that may have been possible before piwis was updated?? Very disappointed....can anyone help? Tech was receptive to more if I had specific instructions.....thanks! Speedo works temp works time trans etc but can't get rid of the warning air suspension....aggh
  15. DONE...well almost...I followed the instructions I found here and the swap worked PERFECT. Old cluster approx 34k miles new 22K and I found a shop to recalibrate the odometer on the new cluster for $250. I am getting the air suspension error message which I expected because my S does NOT have air suspension and the turbo cluster is naturally programmed for air suspension and possibly tire pressure sensors. I am going to dealer in AM for reprogram hopefully while I wait and not too much $$$ THANKS ALL! will post pix this week.....
  16. Loren Thanks that answers my question exactly. If the mileage does end up being different how do you suppose my dealer will handle that? More specifically... If I drive the car in will they just go by whats on the odometer OR will they refer to the mileage that comes up on their computer? I didn't expect them to warranty the changed cluster I was more concerned with the rest of the car- which reading your reply I see they will have to. What exactly is a speedometer shop? Excuse my ignorance but I'm not sure how to look for one. THANKS MUCH!
  17. Loren- THANKS! I appreciate the input. I was more concerned if anything else needed warranty repair since its a CPO- would the replaced cluster warrant the dealer to not honor warranty since the mileage may be off or will that not matter if mileage is registered in the DME? Will that still apply if I install the cluster myself? Do you suggest I pay the dealer to install for better "customer relations" besides they may also change the mileage to match actual? I feel I can install it myself after reading the post here on the forum. THANKS! Sorry, but that is BS. If it is a Porsche part and you provide proof of purchase - then they have to warranty it. They don't have to like it - but they do have to warranty it. If they don't contact PCNA.

  19. I dont want to get stuck with the dealer having an excuse to NOT honor the warranty since it will appear that the mileage was tampered with and the cluster will obviously be changed. I also wonder if the actual mileage may be tracked somewhere else in the car.
  20. Hey Gang.....I have seen the many posts regarding installing a full color turbo cluster into a Cayenne S. I just bought one from a 2004 turbo for my 2004 S. I think I can handle the install and programming from reading other posts....my question....I have a 32000 mile CPO vehicle with warranty till Nov 2010 what consequences will I have when I install? My experience with most dealers is- they look for ANY way to not honor warranty- am I just asking for trouble especially since the mileage will change?? THANKS!
  21. I received the same box with that part number on it from my dealer. I insterted the update cd marked cayenne and nothing happened....?? Do I need to somehow command the PCM unit to read the update? THANKS! It is a 3.0 with SW 3.0 THe update disc was not recognized BUT IU did insert the new map disc and it gave me the "updating software" meter after the keep system powered up warning so I suppose the SW is updated? THANKS!

  23. I just purchased a set of factory techno 20's for my 2004 Cayenne S the previous wheels were factory 19's . I found out the hard way that although all the tires are identical the wheels ARE NOT! The front wheel "spokes" have a "curve" to them allowing clearance from the large brake calipers.....MY QUESTION I did in fact engage the parking brake when I jacked up the car and...after changing the 4 wheels I am getting a parking brake error message like the brake is still on....can someone help?? Seen this before??
  24. Thanks again....I finally figured out to push MAIN and TRIP to see I had software version 3. I popped in the correct nav disc and it booted right up. Appreciate all the help. I suppose this really illustrates the need for a CD changer OR ipod interface....any suggestions from you guys? I looked in the rear passenger side to see if I had an optical red light plug in but could only find a black plug which looks more like power..... if I do purchase a cd changer will I need reprogram from dealer? THANKS THANKS!
