    thanks. sorry about that. I found that the wiring for the sensor follows the same bundle as the fuel tank level wiring. it goes to the right of the fuel tank. wiring repaired and engine check light no longer on :) Syed

    does anyone have any idea where the wiring for the tank pressure sensor runs on a 996. the sensor sits on top of the fuel tank, under the battery. On my car the wires to the sensor have broken and I need to fish out the ends that connect to the computer. There is no sign of them near the sensor itself? Thanks Syed 1999 996 Cab

    Mice? (would not be the first time) No obvious indications that the furry ones have been in there. the fact that the other ends of the wires are no where to be seen is also puzzling. Syed

    Update, opened her up and got to the tank presure sensor only to find the 3 wires going to the sensor are severed and their is no sign of the other end of the wires. looks like the wires have been pulled away... it is very strange. I guess it is a trip to the dealer to get the sensor wired again. ps . my dealer quoted me $500 for the sensor byt sunset porshe in oregon quoted me about half that. Syed

    More likely your gas cap. Check the o-ring on the gas cap. the gas cap looks ok. if i disconnect the battery the light goes of for a couple of hours then comes back on :( Any other ideas? Syed

    thanks a lot. someone told me it was in the right wheel arch under the filler tube. this looks much easier. Syed

    my dealer has informed me that my engine check light is on due to a fault with the tank pressure sensor (part 996 606 20500) Has anyone got any experience changing this part or have and pictures of the part or the change process? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Syed 1999 911 Cab
