  1. New update: It was not a bad connection the problem still remained. I changed the MAF and the problem did´nt go away so i had the dealer check it with the computer. The car had a vaccum leak and it was a smal pipe that was not connected, easy to fix and now the car is running as it should.
  2. A little update: I unplugged the MAF, started the car and the hi reving was gone, it vent up to about 1800rpm and back again. So i finally thought i had found the problem but just to be shure i let it sit over night and started it with the MAF connected, i got the same result, it only reved up to 1800rpm! So maybe it was some bad connection or somthing.
  3. Ok thanks i will try to clean the MAF, i have already cleaned the throttle body.
  4. Ok i have some things that i think could be the problem: 1. ICV? I have tested the valve with a 9 v battery and the flap opens and closes freely 2. AOS? I have not noticed any oil residue in the throttle housing. Is there any other check i could do to be certain? 3.Throttle valve switch 996 606 116 00? How do i test it ? 4. Tire size? I have read about it in a thread that the wrong tire size could affect the Traction control and cause the hi idle when stopping. I have 225/40 18" and 285/30 18" http://www.renntech....__1#entry124168 Please help me if you have anything that i should test or if you have any answer to my thoughts.
  5. Ok i have tested the ICV with a 9V battery and it open and close so i suppose it works like it should.
  6. I can move the little flap in the valve and it seems to be moving like it should. Is there any way to test if the solenoid is broken? Will it show if i plugg in the PIWIS? Thanks for the quick reply! :thankyou:
  7. I have a problem with the idle on my 1999 Carrera. When i start it for the first time in the morning it revs up to 1800-2000 real quick and then goes down to about 800-1000, it does this only when it´s cold. Also when i stop, the idle is at about 1100-1200 for a couple of seconds and then goes down to 800-900. The idle is stable and does not fluctuate. I have cleaned the throttle body and the ICV. I´m thinking about buying a new ICV but it´s so **** expensive so i would like to know what you think before i buy it.
  8. I had the car on the lift today and it was the gearbox mount, both the bushings were broken. :thankyou:
  9. Thanks, that might be it, i will put the car on the lift and check it! :)
  10. Made a recording of the noise, not the best quality but you will here it. Inspelning (12).mp3
  11. I don´t know but it started when i took the car out after the vinter. And the porsche tech did react on it when i had it in for the big service but he belived it maybe was something loose on the exhaust. But it doesn´t sound like that kind of noise and i think i would hear it when i go forrward. Maybe i´m just paranoid and it´s nothing? I will record and post the sound tomorrow
  12. Hi I have a 996TT 04 that´s making a strange noise when i´m reversing, it´s only when i start to release the clutch and the engine starts pulling. When i have released the clutch and reversing in normal speed the noise disappears. There is no noise when i´m rolling backwards with the clutch pushed down. Also there is no noise when i´m going forward. The sound is coming from the gearbox area and it sounds like a "gearwheel bearing" or somthing and it goes from low pitch to middle pitch and then disapears, it´s just like it is reving up. Chi chi chi chichichi ...... (not a good depiction) I´m going to try to record it for you.
  13. Problem is solved! I made them plug in the computer at the dealer one more time when i was looking. We found a setting named "tuning code" and changed that to European! Very easy! :)
  14. go to dealer, they will switch it with PIWIS, may as well ask them to switch side lights to turn signals (though i am not sure if it was implemented on 996 or only on 997 onwards so you may have to re-wire; you will need that to comply with european regulations) Thank you for the reply! :) I have been to the dealer and they have tried to switch it with the PIWIS. But it didn´t work, there was a configuration option for the frequency band that they changed from US to European, but it still didn´t work. Have they maybe done it the wrong way(it was the dealers first time doing this kind of operation) or does this operation not work on my PCM beacause it´s a specific US model???
  15. I have imported a 996tt from USA to europe and i have a problem with my PCM. How do i get the PCM radio to search for radio stations with 100khz diffrence(Example: 100.0mhz 100.1mhz 100.2mhz etc..)??? It searches with 200khz diffrence now(Example: 100.1mhz 100.3mhz etc...). Do i have to reprogram it or buy a new one?
