  1. Are there any options of engine management out there for porsches? I'm swaping a 3.4l into my boxster but I'm planning on boosting it in the future as well. Can I get a engine management that can run the 3.4l right now?

The best engine management it's the original DME; the one you have - you can remapit; no other box will take over the whole thing; you can add a piggyback to run some af the functions(injectors, variocam), but I think it's better to find a good tuner to remapit; on 3.4 you don't have a lot of "hidden" power; the 3.6 you can get more from remapping. The turbo kits shoud come with their own piggyback to control the boost.

    good luck,

    Sergiu

what do I need to buy to reprogram the DME? I can't find a dealership who is willing to do it for me in western canada.

  2. P1691 Check Engine Malfunction Indication light (MIL) - Open Circuit

    Potential cause:

    - Break in wiring.

Are you sure that is the only code?

Yeah that's the only code, but now I hear the clicking noise at cold temps too. Sounds more like a clunking noise now that I read up on more threads about the IMS. I'm also getting some oil leaks (2-3 drops per day) from the RMS area.

From what I know of the car's history it's been sitting for 2-3 years. I drove it 2k miles from U.S back to Canada and the engine still felt powerful but had this problem about 1k miles into the drive home.

  3. I just got a 1999 boxster, 2.5L, 5spd, it runs great until it hits 180F.

    At 180F

    1) Idle is rough, drops below 400 and back to 1100 everytime after I rev it.

    2) Stalls at fiction point

    3) Idle will produce oil light below 400rpm and somtimes stall

    4) Clicking noise rear right side, almost a rattle in 1 and 2 gear

I've cleaned the IACV, check the oil levels, added octane boost

Is there a way to reset the computer?

Or is this another RMS or IMS problem? But the car runs perfect below 180F.............
