I have a MY97 2.5L with Tiptronic and 89K miles. I am working my way thru the required maintenance (oil, plugs, filters, already done) and I need to change the fluids in the transmission, but all I see is the drain plug for the trans oil. Where is the fill and drain plugs for the differential (for the gear oil). ;) I've got plenty of DIY experience just never worked on a Tiptronic trans. Any pointers or tips on how to approach this task would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I spent a good bit of time looking into spark plugs on the web and was not able to find much about the true difference between the OEM plugs and the Platinum 2 and +4 (Bosch 4303 and 4417, respectively). I did find that many, many places are selling the Bosch Platinums for the Boxster as well as if you go to the Bosch USA website itself it also list them in their selection guide.
Previously, I have used Bosch Pt plugs in place of std Cu electrode plugs in my Honda for many, many years without issue. I seem to recall that Pt electrode plugs came out in the early 90's so maybe Porsche opt'ed to use Cu electrode plugs in the build of the first Boxsters since at that time (mid-90's) they were relatively new and untested (in Porsche engineers' view; just a guess).
So, I opt'ed for the 4303 Platinum 2 instead of ponying up a few more bucks for the OEM ones. My car is a '97 Boxster with 88k miles. Hopefully I don't end up on the side of the road like Jeffrey. I wonder if some of the reports of fouling and poor running is due to other issues such as leakage on the cables, etc and the Pt plugs are less tolerant of sub-optimal operational conditions (just speculation on my part)

I recently had a secondary air injection problem, the engine light came back on and now I have the codes P1124 and P1126. I was also told that the car is now running lean. Anyone have some insight on this? I admit, I just got this car (97 boxster, 99 motor installed) and I don't know sh*t about it. The mechanic told me the car is running lean and could be a MAF problem. But he also said he wants to check for vacuum leaks. If it is the MAF anyone now where I can get a good price on them?, I know the price went up again recently. Also, whats the diff between the normal sensor and the e-accelerator? Is that for the S? Sorry, like I said, I'm a clueless newbie.
I had the same codes come on my car (97 986) after I bought it used a couple of months ago. I was able to fix by changing the fuel filter and have the injectors cleaned (ultrasonic; not DIY). The protocol for these codes is to check the intake (air) system, check fuel pressure and check fuel volume delivery.

uhhhhhhh  OK.....the fill plug is on the bottom.....nice design......
Can they make it a little more complicated (?) and while they are at it and add in a healthy dose of pain in the butt. Guess I'll have my mechanic do this one. Trying that in your own garage looks to be a recipe for a lot of spilled fluids (besides the foamy kind).
Thanks for the replies!!!
