  1. Hi Rick, After reading your post I decided to research the hidden detectors, I have been using a Cobra XR9 and I thought is was the best thing since sliced bread (I live in Virginia and its not allowed here, shhh....) until I drove my '08 Cayenne Turbo to Tampa, FL. Going thru the hot radar/laser states on RT 95 I noticed several times my detector never alerted me to radar traps; thankfully I had a cargo bag on the roof limiting my speeds. The page you provided led me to studies done and found the XR9 isn’t good at off angle radar. So now I'm purchasing a unit like yours and ask the same question. "Where is the best place to install it?” I look forward to seeing what you find, I will share any information I find. FYI... my Cayenne Loved stretching her legs on the open road. I was getting 22 mpg until I filled up with cheap gas at South of the Boarder, mileage dropped to 16.8 mpg. I longed for adding Toluene to the gas again! Dave Hi Dave, I did a LOT of research on all the "protection" devices and ended up with the Valentine 1 detector, the Laser Pro Park jammer and the Cheetah GPSmirror http://www.speedcheetah.com/scshop/section.php?xSec=24 both the Valentine 1 and the LPP are wireless and their alerts are sent through the mirror, the cool thing (and the main reason I bought the mirror) is that you can set a speed of your choice in the mirror and you will not be alerted at speeds below that speed.... so if you set say 50kph (im in Canada :) ) when you are driving below 50 in town going past all the doors that give false alerts you wont get bugged by them. The mirror is huge and I didn't want to clip it onto my existing mirror because it would look ugly so I have hardwired it behind my visor http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=20072 :renntech: so you cant see it, also I put the V1 it the far top right corner of the windscreen, the whole thing looks pretty neat, be happy to take pics for you if you want. I dont think I am going to install the LPP in the front grill until someone here can help me, its way to big a job for me to tackle blindly. Cheers Rick
  2. Hi Cannoli, Thanks, I love it!!! my previous cars were, Merc ML320, BMW X5, another X5, VW Touareg and I have to tell you this Cayenne blows the socks of all the others in every aspect. My Cayenne does have the park assist and the Laser Pro Park is sold as a park assist, however it is used as a laser jammer and is a VERY good jammer, luckily were I live jammers and detectors are all perfectly legal :)
  3. Hi All, Thank you so much to RennTech.org and everyone for their tips, tricks and advice. I have just taken delivery of my 2006 Cayenne Turbo S and like a kid in a candy store I bought some "toys" (Laser Pro Park http://www.kmph.ca/products/laser-protecti...ead-system.html ) before I even saw the vehicle, when I opened the hood I realized that it was too much for me to attempt without some sort of help. If anyone has installed one of these units in a Cayenne or can tell me the best way to get behind the front grill and where to find a power source I would really appreciate it, I did buy the wireless version so there is no need for me to go through the firewall. Thanks again for taking the time to read my post Cheers Rick
