  1. Hello, I searched history today and couldn't find answers to a couple window related questions, so thought I'd ask. Vehicle is a '97 Boxster w/ ~70k miles: 1) My passenger window has a nasty squeak/squeal when going up or down, worse in hot weather. Anybody run into issue before? I'm wondering if this is more so the rubber seals at the top of the door that need to be replaced or lubed, or is this something internal in the mechanism? 2) When the top is down on car and windows are down and I turn key-off, upon opening doors the windows auto-up. I assume this is a safety/theft prevention type software feature- vehicle assumes you are leaving it with the top down so it puts windows up. Is this normal, is there a bypass? I hate to keep putting windows back down again when I'm just making a quick key-off stop somewhere.....any/all help is appreciated :)
  2. Hello, Was wondering if anybody in Midwest area has found an automotive upholstery shop that will replace rear plastic window for reasonable amount. I've seen posts here from people that have had it done for $150-$200. Cheapest I've found in MI is $450. Main reason I think is because the aftermarket convertible top replacement catalogues list this as an 8-9 hour job, so mainly paying labor. Anybody have an upholstery shop thats done it in less? Thanks for input!
  3. Loren, Thanks for detailed trouble-shooting suggestions, I just need to find some time to give it a go! How accessible is this system after removing the engine cover, will I need to come from under the carriage at all? Anybody have an engine compartment photo they could post showing most/all the secondary air system....thanks much!
  4. Hello, These OBD II codes are "Secondary Air Injection Signal Implausible in cylinders 1-3 and 4-6". After browsing Porsche Pete's archives a couple days ago, I've seen 3-4 instances of this question posed in the past. I've got a '97 2.5L w/45,000 miles. I'd like to hear from somebody that has had to get the repair done to fix this issue, what did they fix, how much, etc... I realize there will be different root causes for these codes, however I'd like to get a feel for if there is a a specific component in the secondary air system that generally causes these faults. I've heard from some that an air change over valve was replaced and fixed problem, and I've also heard of instances where the inlets into the cylinder heads get plugged due to carbon deposits. I've heard this is an expensive fix since the exhaust manifolds may need to be removed to pull these lines off and physically clean them out. More background in my case, the air pump still appears to function fine, as it comes on for its normal cold start cycle every time I start car. It would just appear from the fault codes that the proper air flow isn't being read by the H20S sensors, can somebody comment. Thanks for any help!
