  1. Thank you guys... I'll try that today and let you know how I got on. :)
  2. Yup... from an electrical viewpoint, everything works as it should. It's just when you lift the door handle, nothing happens. Baffled to say the least!!
  3. You can hear the locks engage and disengage. Now I've discovered that the passenger door opens intermittently. Depends on it's mood I think!! Can a car get PMS? :P
  4. I have recently got my 2.5 back on the road after it has sat idle for about eight weeks. After about an hour of driving I found that I cannot open both driver and passenger doors from the outside. The locks engage and disengage both manually and via the remote key, but the handles will not allow me entry. The handles will lift fully and the windows drop fine on both sides and I can exit the car no problem. To gain entry I have to insert the key and hold to the right to drop the windows fully and open using the internal latch. Would I be right in assuming that because both doors have packed up, this may be an electrical relay issue as opposed to a mechanical (which is how it feels) or microswitch one? Would love some advice! Jamie.
  5. Make sure you do what I did. Check all connection to the microswitch in the top/latch. Take out the plastic sensor covers and using a 'star' driver (or a 5mm flat head) undo the bolts either side. Drop the unit and inspect the connectors for rust etc. Give them a jiggle while pressing the top buttons to see if that helps. If not, go and have a cup of tea and scratch your head a while!
  6. Not really a trick and probably one which some of you have performed before. Another problem I had with the roof microswitch was that the 'cushion' had come free and got lost resulting in no contact with the second switch... windows would not raise. Got over it sort term by whacking a bit of card in the gap. However, when I took the switch apart to fix the short, I solved this by cutting the shape from a mouse pad and superglued this in place. Problem solved! :)
  7. Hi all, Just joined today to solve a problem with my top. After reading many closely related problems in this forum and taking all the advice I have now sorted my top dilemma (wasn't retracting although windows were dropping). I checked the brake switch... all fine, took out the convertible relay and gave it a whack. Eventually traced the problem to a loose connection on the roof mounted microswitch. A quick adjustment and all is fine!! Didn't even have to post!! Thanks again for (sort of) solving this. I like the look of this site though.... think I might hang around a while. B) Jamie.
