  1. Found the solution before a response was posted. Thanks. P.S. My solution was to use vice grips and needle nose plyers. It took strength with the plyers! How guys pull this off with their bare hands is unkown :)
  2. I'm replacing the shifter boot and have followed directions. Says to unsnap the boot -- done. Turn 90 degrees -- done. But the knob won't lift out. Didn't want to force the plastic sleeve to turn any further than the stop (counter-clockwise). Any ideas? Thanks.
  3. I'm planning to hack a set of porsche mufflers with the pse mod. The first picture shows a 1" piece of pipe across the intake and exhaust. The second picture (with the red dot) shows an elbow welded. Does anyone know if this part is attached to the exhaust or intake? How much louder will the sound be with the extra elbow? Some guys reported using a 2" instead of 1" across the intake and exhaust. Anyone running a muffler like this? How do you like it?
  4. Thanks berty987 for the reply. Any ideas what part numbers are needed for the headlights and/or fogs to get the bulbs swapped out? Where can these be purchased?
  5. I know this topic has been flogged with a stick LOL, but a bit confused on choices to upgrade the stock 997 headlights and/or fogs. Some posts indicated certain bulbs melted housings, while others required balasts and additional wiring. The stock non-xenon headlights are just too dim in low light areas. What are most guys doing? Is there a simple way to just swap out bulbs to increase the brightness? Thanks,
  6. Where can I purchase the PCM upgrade disc to 3.0 besides the dealer? Will be upgrading to NavTV / Sirius and this software upgrade is necessary. If someone has a disc and would like to sell it, please let me know. Thanks,
  7. Hi RFM, should I wait to get the new switch and install while the seats are out, or can I mount the seats then take off the trim and screws out later? Thanks a lot,
  8. Hi friends, have some 2008 seats (going into my 2005 997). Haven't started to unbolt and replace yet. The person these were purchased from wasn't aware of the missing tilt switch when they arrived. Here's a pic of the tilt switch. The switch itself is almost flush with the seat and not sure if the lever is broken. Can someone confirm if the switch appears broken? If it needs replacing, what is the process to swap out and install another one? Thanks,
  9. Just yesterday I researched starters due to a slight grinding noise when the car starts cold. Turns out, starters are widely replaced on the 911's. Failing starters are a common problem. Renntech's sponsored "Sunset Imports" sells starters for $167.00 and $500+ refundable core charge. Labor at the dealer or shop is about 3 hours. Have no documentation for a DIY install. Maybe someone else can post the install instructions.
  10. I had thought about a fuse LOL, but didn't have a chance to look at the fuse block. The factory spoiler looks great as long as it's up. Have to question how efficient an after market spoiler works. They look pretty big for such a small car.
  11. Anyway to leave the rear spoiler up all the time? Just don't want to manually hit the button everyday. Thanks
  12. I haven't seen the 997 instructions, but I've seen these ones for the 996, which you might be able to modify if you are mechanically inclined (I'm not): Hand Brake / Parking Brake Removal Thanks c_potato, when this project starts will take some pictures and post the procedure to the forums.
  13. I took Loren's cue from here: Center Console Removal. The new link, at least for the centre console, appears to be here: http://www.bmracing.com/bmracing/installat...truction/67.pdf. That's a big help, appreciate the link. While I'm there may as well replace the handbrake, it's worn. Any info on a handbrake replacement? Regards,
  14. Hello, trying to locate instructions on how to remove the consoles between front seats? Think there are two? The front and rear. Wondered what was involved and how to do it. Searched the forum but couldn't locate anything. Have a 2005 997 C2. Thanks,
  15. Hello friends, after some research discovered the Sirius unit at Suncoast is also known as NavTV. Suncoast quoted the unit at $899.95. IMO, the antenna is not an issue. Sirius makes a new micro sized antenna which is 2 1/4" in diameter. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-WU6yi66Qm0O/A...aspx?I=60714125 This may be old news, but thought it might help the forum :)
