    Hello guys, I am looking to replace the 2 rear air spoilers on my 2000 C2 Cabrio. I looked at this thread and I have parts numbers and all, but... When I look at the spoiler (#7 below) it looks like one part, so what is the additional 'lip' 996.504.893.00 and 996.504.894.00? #8 in the drawing below? Thanks, Alex

    Hello, when I was waxing the hardtop yesterday the paint on the rear lip started peeling off onto the rag! I guess I could repaint it but a new one might look better. It is glossy black. Is that a separate part or a part of the hardtop itself. The blue line in the drawing shows about where it is: Kind regards, Alex

    I replaced mine with a glass window that was worth it, but I did some research and found places who would stitch in a plastic window too KL Thank you for your replies. I saw one entry that mentioned that the glass window is smaller. The plastic one has a zipper around it but I couldn't see any way to actually remove it. I guess unless it cracks that I will stick to the Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Cleaner and Polish. Alex

    Hi, I have a couple of questions regarding the convertible top on a 2000 C2 Cabrio. 1. The dealer gave me a speech about NOT operating the convertible when 'it is cold' :unsure: The manual says not to operate the top at temps below O°, that's pretty cold!! Any opinions? When is it safe to use it really temperature wise to avoid cracking the window? 2. Can the plastic window be replaced separately from the top? As always, many thanks in advance. Alex

    Hi, I want to pull out the front wheel well shroud to check drains and to do overall cleaning. The rear one was a breeze, only 3 screws, out in a snap. The front one covers the entire wheel well and even goes under the front up to the front bumper. It has 3 different kinds of fasteners, I have not been able to remove the 'expansion rivet' next to the front bumper, it is # 2 in this drawing: Apparently I need a special tool, any suggestions?? :unsure: Thanks, Alex

    Thanks for the reply RFM. The last Porsche I had before the 996 was a 1990 C2 and did have the engine cleaned professionally. It looked brand-new again. So far I've only cleaned the area I can reach by hand which is not to much since the 996 engine has such as small opening. Alex

    I just replaced the front trunk lever. No need to paint the old one, I just Googled and found the handle at: Performance Cars Marketplace it cost me $112.72. Part # 996 551 511 07 Getting the bowden cables off was the biggest nuisance but I certainly could not have completed this project without DFC and Loren's great posts. It looks really good. Alex

    Good evening members, I have searched but have failed to find much about 'steam cleaning' the 996 engine bay. Mine is not too dirty but I would like to have it look pristine. I found some info on 6peedonline.com. Is it safe to put a hose to the engine? :unsure: The post talks about covering the distributor and the alternator, I am not quite sure where they are on my car... As far as products they recommend P21S Wheel Cleaner or Zymol Wheel Cleaner. I'm not sure I want to do-it-myself, should this job be left to a professional? Any info about your engine cleaning experiences will be greatly appreciated. Alex

    Hello, I am looking for this part number: My car is a 2000 996 C2 Cabriolet, the interior color is grey (the sticker in the front trunk is "L3 AZ CE") I am assuming that it is black? Loren has a diagram of the hardtop parts here: Hardtop diagram I think it would be #3. Thanks in advance, Alex

    DFC: You did an excellent job of showing how to DIY. I am feeling encouraged to go for it. Porsche is shooting themselves in the foot by not having them available individually, like they used to and expecting us to spend $600+ instead. I misss the old latches where they used to be on the C2... Great car by the way! Alex

    Hello, I recently bought a 2000 Carrera cabrio. The front trunk release handle is pretty beat up, down to the bare white plastic, my local Porsche dealer in Wilmington, Delaware quoted me a whopping $600+ to replace it. Does anyone know an alternative such as a good US Porsche salvage? I don't know how to describe it other than the trunk release, would someone know what the part is called? Many thanks in advance, Alex :)
