  1. I´ve checked the link about the replacing of the Gas/Fuel Door Actuator. But in my case, the locking "stick" that supposed to lock the fuel tank door, did reponse when the remote is pressed and it´s extending long enought. But it´s not staying in this entended position. So could this still be a defect gas door actuator? Or is it possible, that the central locking unit needs to be programmed again, because both doors are also not locking? I got the car this way so i don´t know what happend to the central locking unit or the actuator. I just want to be sure, if the actuator has a defect and needs to be replaced or if this looks like an issue of the central locking unit. This would mean, that i have to go to the Porsche dealer.... Stefan
  2. Hy guys, strange problem. When i try to lock the car, the small bolt at the filler flap moves forward, stays for a second and then it´s going backwards. So i´m not able to lock the car, because also the doors unlock again. Any ideas? The right front fender have been replaced, so maybe this caused the problem. But why is the little bolt at the filler flap moving backwards. Thanks, Stefan
  3. Loren, i took away the door panel today. The wires on the door airbag seemed to be fine. I shook the wires a little bit and tightened the bolts of the airbag. Then i checked it with the Durametric, deledted the airbag light and it didn´t showed up again. Fine, but what has caused the problem before? Stefan
  4. Hello, i have a problem with the airbag light. Durametric says code 29 on drivers side. I reset the airbag light with the Durametric but after 5 seconds the airbag light is on again. There was a repair on the door, so there might be something wrong with the airbag. Any ideas what do do next, before i remove the door panel. Thanks Stefan
  5. I solved the problem saturday evening. I took a bolt which had nearly the sice of the paddle, cut one end so that it would fit in the key look, drilled a little hole in it, and weldet a piece of metal on the other side and grinded it to the form and sice of the paddle. Believe it or not - it fits and works perfectly. I tried to get a use part on the internet, but there were no door handles available. The CD charger is also working again. I disconnected the battery to work at the door lock. And when i connected it again, the cd charger was reactivated for what reason ever! Thanks to Juniinc and RFM for you kind help! Simon2
  6. I visited my friendly Porsche dealer this morning. They don´t sell the "paddle" itself, even if you can easiliy remove it. The hole lock/handle is for sale only - 260 EUR... Somebody told me, the paddle will also be used in some Volkswagon models, but he didn´t know on which one. So i ( and the body repair shop) have to look for a used part.
  7. So when i turn the key, the paddle (broken away from the red circle) turns something inside the door lock and this gets a signal to the central locking unit. Am i wright - more or less...? So do i need a need door lock, could i use my old key?
  8. When i look at the door handle from the inside, there are two wires on the right side of the handle. I think they belong to the window switch, because when i lift up the handle, the window goes down a little bit. Does anybody has a picture of the inside door lock? Where are the wires connected to the door lock, where the signal goes from when i turn the key? What about the fuses and why is the cd charger not working anymore? Couldn´t these two problems belog to the same technical problem - broken fuse or whatever?
  9. Hi guys, i just picked up my 97 Boxster from the body shop, where they did a paintjob on the drivers door. Therefore, they had to take off the door lock handle. I removed the door panel when i delivered the car, so they only had to take away the two nuts to remove the handle. But it looks like they did a little bit more work to the door lock. No while i´m at home and wanted to lock the door with the key (i don´t have a remote at the moment, but i have the M535 central locking unit), it is not working. I can turn the key in both directions but there is no "klicking". I also noticced, that the CDC 3 cd changer in the front trunk has no power, because i can not load cds or take out the magazin. They disconected the battery while working on the car. Does anybody know what to do now? The body shop is closed and i checked the fuses for the central locking unit and radio but they where all good. But i could not find a fuse for the cd changer. Looks like this is a power/fuse problem...!? I also found a piece of metal (grey iron) inside the door. It looks like it´s broken away from a bigger part, about 2 inches long, looks like a little "boat paddle". L1 is written on it. Could this part been broken away from the door lock or maybe its still inside the door from a former repair? Thanks, Simon
  10. Today, i took away the vacuum connection from the booster, to check if there´s water inside the booster. I put a long small piece of plastic inside, took it back and there was water on it. Then i put a flexible tube inside the booster and sucked. No questions - it was not tasting very good... But at least, there was about half a liter of water inside the booster. This was caused by a blocked hole near the batterie, where the water could not go through. So the water stayed up there to an amount, where it could go through the bad sealing into the booster. The problem is still there. So i will buy a new booster and install it soon. So if you also had a problem with the blocked water hole and your brakes are still fine, but you want to ckeck the booster - just take away the vacuum connetction and look for water inside. 17. okt 2008: I received my brake booster today, a used one from 2000 boxster. I could install it without disconecting the brakelines from the master brake cylinder. Now the car brakes perfect. Thanks to everybody who took care of my problem and helped me out on that!
  11. Thanks RFM! I took a look at the switch hook 5 minutes ago and think i will try to "repair" it with a piece of rubber tomorrow and see if it works...
  12. Yes, i know. Maybe i will try to open the brake booster tomorrow and see if i can find water inside.
  13. Driving the Boxster is great fun, but sometimes, strange things are happening inside the car... When i drive fast on bad and bumpy roads and the car gets back a hard hit from the road, both side windows are going down just the same way (as if i would open the softtop). Then, you can not close the windows. You can only open them complete, but you can not close them. Then i stopped the car, turned of the ignition, started the car again, but still the same problem. Then i opened the softtop a little bit and closed the top. After that, the windows worked fine. Looks like a probleme with the switch of the softtop. What needs to be done? Thanks, Simon2
  14. I bought the special "Porsche" Torx 45 today, so that i could remove the lower screw that holds the brake booster and - there is no rust on the screw. So it looks like it´s not the brake booster. What else could it be - the master brake cylinder?
  15. ToolPants - thanks a lot for the link. Thant´s what i was looking for. I´m thinking about buying a used brake booster. I know that the master brake cylinder, who was built by LUCAS, is the same one that were used in a lot of AUDI and VW models . Does anybody know, which part# from AUDI or VW is the same like the Porsche brake booster? I was thinking about part # 8D0 612 105 G ???
  16. Thanks Loren, i understand. Looks like it´s TSB 4770. Brake Booster Seal at Firewall Changed. Let´s see how much work (and money) this will be...
  17. Thanks a lot for the answer. Is this like a recall and does that mean, i can bring the car to the Porsche dealer and they will fix that for free?
  18. Hi everybody, this is my first post and i guess i have a kind of "unique" problem with my brake pedal. I´m from Germany so please excuse my english. I have a 1997 Boxster with about 75000 miles on the clock. The problem is, that the brake pedal is sometimes "stucking", which means that it doesn´t come back the hole way, so i have to put my foot behind the pedal and move it back to release the brakes from decelaration. This most of the time (only) happens when i use the brakes at low speed, not when i´m driving at higher speed and use the brakes harder. I used some spray oil here and there and released the nuts betwenn the master brake cylinder and the brake booster, which made the pedal going easier backwards for 1-2 days. My mechanic - he´s not familiar with Porsche - told me, i should intall a new master brake cylinder to solve the problem. What are you guys thinking about that? Thanks a lot, Simon
