  1. Hi All As you are aware i am selling my car and it has no problems at all BUT it does have after market HIDs that caused weird things to happen like many other peoples cars on here. One buyer has asked if he can plug in an OBD diagnostic reader and i am concerned that since it used to do strange things - oil light/roof open light come on/spoiler would raise/solenoid would constantly chatter etc. What should i do ? Think i will def remove the HIDS and take it off listing BUT give them to seller and explain/tell them come here for info. Can i buy a tool and check/clear any faults that it may of caused and can anyone recommend one of Ebay ? I am based in the UK Thanks
  2. Hi Had a Brodit car holder for my Blackberry for years but just got an Iphone 4. Anyone recommend a holder ? Don't fancy one that sticks to screen. Cheers
  3. I totally understand it's just a series circuit BUT i shorted mine at the plugs and it was still on, i know on some BMW's they have a resistor as well, thus if there's a short/damage in cabling it will also show as a fault. This is senses open circuits and shorted circuits. Poor Porsche design...lol
  4. I get an fault on my now and again, once the faullt was 'hard on' for days so put car on axle stands and shorted them all out expecting the light to go out. It did not ??? Do they have a certain resistance ? I always presumed its was just standard loop wire which is either cut or earthed as pad wears. ??????
  5. Hi Only just realised i had these on the rear, was totally confused about the worn pad noise until i removed disc and found fully worn shoes...lol Anyone got a guide, as i can see cable/adjusters etc Cheers
  6. Hi I get this loud clicking noise intermittently when switcjing HIDS on ? I have stopped the car and it is coming from where the rear boot latch lock is ? Is there a relay behind there ? How can i resolve this ?? If i turn ignition off then resart engine and turn hids back on it's fine ? Cheers
  7. Which bush is this exactly. How did you get to view it. I could not see them when jacked yp ? Cheers
  8. Well the squeaking noise is still there after lubing mount, people are telling me it's the inner coffin arm mount ? How can i trace it ??
  9. Hi Got a sueaking sound from top of front mount. Been reading on here and not a lot of info... Is it rubber or a bearing or a composite of both ?? Do you have to remove the strut, anyone help or got a pic for the 986 ? Cheers
  10. How many mounts are there and can you recommend on which one to start on ? I noticed one on Pedro's site, would this cause it, i can not find any others.
  11. Hi My gearstick tension (cables etc) is fine but i find i get movement in it forward/back under gas on/off. Is this and engine or gearbox mount ? Any ideas ?? Cheers
  12. I was looking into a dual 555 timer circuit operating relays for open/close. The timers need not be precisely accurate and would be set for the longest duration to close/open as the roof has it's own micro switches and these would still be in circuit. ie You could keep the button depressed for 10 mins if you wanted and no harm would be done. The longest my roof takes to open is 10 secs foe example so the timer would be 13 secs. It would need an interlock though in case the open was activated then the close within the timer period.
  13. Yes from UK mate. Its the trim panel i need to remove on the dash, but all pics i see show 2 seperate panels which pip off, mine is one complete piece ?
  14. Hi All I want to get access to the rear of the hood switch to see what i need to do in order to make some sort of timer if possible for one touch operation. Mine is situated in a 'horeshoe' piece of trim, or upside U, all in one piece. It also houses my rear demister, door lock/open controls. Cheers
  15. So when i am locking the car with roof down i am not arming the microwave sensor ? Are you saying i need to also press a switch ? Where is this switch ??? Ta EDIT - Just checked my manual and it states it's an infrared not microwave sensor and that it is always disabled when roof down ?
  16. what is this 'red clip' I always arm my 04 facelift and alarm has never gone off, but then again i have not tried to activate it. Anyone got a pic or link ? Ta
  17. Fitted them, again simple. just cable tied them to heater pipe one side and made small holes for the ties in the other. looks good tbh. Might get the red or amber ones though. What colour are the OEM ones ?
  18. Just done it. Only taken 20 mins. You remove the light by popping it out at the lhs (uk car) other side has a lip. Soldered onto the 2 lamp spots, they both go back to pins, one on the connector the other on the switch. Then i opened roof a touch and reomoved the 3 torque screws which hold sun visor/secure roof. You can run the cable along here by just pulling on it lightly. Then just unclip A pillar cover (2 clips holding it) and i had a coat hanger wire and fed it up from footwell to the bottom of a pillar, you can see the gap easily. Job done. Very simple. Just don't know how/where to secure these leds now and which way to point them ?
  19. Well i just whipped out the interior light and soldered wires onto it, only takes 2 mins.
  20. So how do i buy this ? How much, what about the double din cage etc or does this come with the Avic ? Based in UK, 986 with Bose.
  21. Had my leds today, the problem is they are flexy. What can i fix them onto to make them rigid and how/where can i attach to the car footwells ?
  22. do a search for "porsche avic" on ebay No such luck ?
  23. Great minds think alike, i have just ordered two 24 leds strips from Ebay to use as FWL, You are right about running wires to the light as you need to tap into the switched side, not the supply side. I too am wondering how i will attach the lights and where. Cheers
  24. Where can i get the faceplate in order to fit an Avic in my 04 plate.
