  1. Thank you. I know, I know... but I've got the mod bug... I also picked up some Fabspeed Maxflo exhausts to add. :D
  2. Nothing more than a change in sound. :) Any thoughts on my question?
  3. Loren, I'm hoping you can help me out here. Is there any determent to moving the tiptronic breather line on a 997 to where such line connects on a 996? Specifically, I'm installing an EVOMS Cold Air Intake that was made for a 6-speed car (i.e., it doesn't have a place for the breather line) and was thinking about modifying the tube that comes off the intake manifold to match the directions of the K&N Cold Air Intake with respect to tiptronic breather line. That is, for the K&N there is a 90 vent tube that connects the breather line to the intake as it comes off the manifold (in the same spot the breather line used to be located on all 996 tiptronic cars). See attached image. I have sourced the parts and can make it work, but I don't want to screw anything up here, but doing this. I'm figuring it should work the same since I'm changing the intake out completely (versus trying to move the breather line on a stock airbox (which would make no sense, I know). Sorry for the rambling, I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance, -Eddie
  4. I think Paul mistakenly gave you the 996 Tip knob removal. The procedure for the 997 is different and can be at the link below. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...st&p=108867 Thanks Loren. I guess where I'm stuck is on step 3... where it says to lever the spring clip out of the lock. To me, it looks like one solid white piece (under the locking cover) and I don't see the spring clip clearly to lever it off... Maybe I'll take the cover off and post a picture of what I see (good idea, Eddie!)... will circle back here when I do (off to Christmas Vcation with the family for a week). Thanks again, everyone!
  5. Thanks, Paul. No dice. The 996 shifter looks different with the cap off than the 997. I've seen the post Loren made re the 997 shifter but, I have to tell you, the instructions are confusing. I don't know when it says "lever the compression spring away from the direction of travel and off shifter", what that means exactly. The pictures try to help but I just don't get it... and I'm usually not one of those guys who has a problem with this type of thing (especially when given instructions). Am very frustrated, to say the least and am strongly considering forking over the $500 to the dealer to get this done, which would just be sickening... :o
  6. OK tried the instructions for removing the Tip shift knob on a 996 to no avail. When I get the silver cap off the shifter, there still is a plastic linkage that won't allow me access to the spring clip (no compression spring exists, that I can see). So, alas, I'm stuck. Any help to this effect would be appreciated.
  7. Thanks all. Sorry for lack of info on car. I have an 06 Carrera S Will try some or all of the above and get back to you all. Eddie
  8. Hi there - wondering if anyone here has tackled removing the rear center console on a tip. I tried following to B&M short shifter instructions, but I can't get past step one, because the tiptronic gate is connected to the center console in a different manner and I can't get that trim piece removed to get to the screws at the front of the console (and, presumably, the one screw in the shifter area) to get the darn thing out! I recently purchased a painted rear center console from Eric and am trying to do this myself (Stealer wants $500 to install it for me!!). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Side note -- Tool Pants, maybe you remember me from PPBB from back in 01-02 (actually, Babblers as you and MMD had been banned, I think, and I was always trying to get you guys re-instated...stupid fun, you know!)? Had an 01 Black Boxster Tip back then (Eddie from SoCal). Thanks in advance, -Eddie
