  1. Loren - thanks for the recommendation. I did send a note to my mechanic to get his input as well. Hopefully it is just a matter of burning out anything that might be remaining in there and not something more serious.
  2. I have a 2002 996 C2 Cab with a 6 speed and 50,600 miles on it. I was occasionally experiencing the "smoke at startup" issue mentioned by others in the forum. More recently, I was shifting from 3rd to 4th gear on a spirited drive and a lengthy plume of smoke came from the exhaust. It happened twice in the same day. I looked at Renntech forums and saw it was likely the AOS so I took it to my mechanic for diagnosis. He diagnosed it as the AOS and replaced it last week ($683). Today, I was driving it in a spirited manner and shifted from 3rd to 4th (at almost 7000 rpms) and experienced a large plume of smoke from the exhaust again. Any thoughts of what might still be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Thanks for the insight. I saw some similar posts that seemed to consider this as a possible cause. I applied a silicone lubricant to the pedal this morning and drove it all day. The problem hasn't occurred since that time so I am hopeful that this resolves it. I only hope it turns out to be that simple.
  4. do you have any slip as well? i had a cracke pressure plate which resulted in pedal not coming back smothly or at all but that would only be the case if you clutch started slipping as well and the problem developed instantly and not over time. I haven't noticed any slip and I put a bit of silicone lubricant on the pedal this morning. I drive it most of the day today and the problem didn't occur again so I am hoping that might have done the trick. Stay tuned....
  5. I have a 2002 996 C2 Cab with 48k miles on it. I just noticed this morning that the clutch pedal failed to fully release when I shifted. It released about 2/3 of the way and then I had to nudge it with my foot to get it to fully release. For the next couple of shifts, it would release about 2/3 of the way and then "pop" all of the way out (it didn't require a nudge but it clearly was NOT a smooth release). It nows seems to be releasing okay but I suspect this is the start of something more serious. I have searched across the forums and read about accumulators and the possibility of replacement of the master/slave cylinders but I couldn't find any particular posting with the same symptoms that I am experiencing. Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated.
  6. I have a 2002 Carrera cabriolet and recently had the passenger side window motor and regulator replaced because the window stopped adjusting (slight raise/lower) when the door was opened and closed. This resolved the window adjustment issue but now when I open the top, all of the windows automatically lower except the passenger window - it remains raised. The window can be lowered by the rocker switch without a problem, including one touch, but it just doesn't automtically lower when opening the top. Any ideas?
