Not yet started! I received the alu pipes today, I'll finish to collect all the tools I need to do the job and start the job in a couples of weeks
-
Try to clean the MAF sensors and the connectors

I'm planning to change my cooling pipes in the next weeks, I'm writing this post just know if anyone could be interested in a open garage day with tools and beer around just to have a look, help or see what to expect in your next DIY...
Let me know, I'm in the bay area, San Jose

no, I only see the leak coming from there

I have a leak from the camshaft Actuator Seal, is it a common and easy fix?

No pain for a 75c letter... but I took all the parts plus some extras like plugs, polybelt and tools at ECS for 850$ with tax and this hurts a little bit more...
-
I've found that the ECS Kit is more complete:

Great! Do I need other sealants or special tools? Am I forced to use the Porsche Coolant?

Got my notice yesterday. Since I bought 04 turbo used and am now at 97,000 miles....I would get $375 towards a dealer installed replacement. That is not a settlement that is another rip off. The aluminum pipes alone cost $1000.
There are quite a few vendors selling a complete kit (pipes, gaskets, replacement hoses, etc.) to do the job for less than $500. Some even include the antifreeze. If your dealer is charging $1,000 for just the pipes, I'd RUN-AWAY, RUN-AWAY..
Of course you can always exclude yourself from the class-settlement - directions on doing that are right there on the forms, then go after Porsche yourself..
Can you please tell me wich vendors are selling the complete kit for 500$, I've sent the letter for the settlement but my Cayenne now is loosing a inch of coolant each week, I'll probably do the job by myself...

Do you think it's possible to use the 911 2,5 inch wheel caps instead of the starshaped original caps on a 2006 Cayenne S?

My 2005 Cayenne S is PCM2.1 Level A and needs to upgrade to Level B. The 2006 PCM2.1 is Level B and supports MP3 audio that my 2005 Level A doesn't. Does anyone know is MP3 supported if upgrade a 2005 PCM2.1 Level A to B? and is there any different of the PCM operation & features after updated the firmware of the PCM2.1 from A to B?
did you manage to solve this problem? Let me know, I have the same issue!

Yeah, post a pic of that thing and try melting it with some WD40...

The Durametric is an extremely useful investment. In my opinion your problem could be a faulty temperature sensor or MAF...

There are loads available here. I usually search on Craigslist and Autotrader. You can find them from $10k upwards, but the sweet spot seems to be mid $20's will get you a 2008 Cayenne S.
Depending on your budget and technical skills, you could either invest in a Durametric cable and check over the cars yourself. (One off fee of $300 ish to buy it), or pay someone else to inspect the cars for you. This can cost anything from $150 upwards. I had my 2004 Cayenne Turbo inspected by a local garage that works on Mercedes, BMW and Porsche. The guy missed a few things, but also caught a few things that more than paid for his inspection.
That's why I'm choosing to buy a family Porsche, I have all the equipment to fix it, included the Durametric cable :) I would llike to keep my budget around 15K, I'm also looking around to create a list of things to check before buying it...

Hi guys, last year I finally sold my 911 Carrera 4 and in may I'll move from Italy to the SF bay area with wife and child.
I would like to stay on the Porsche brand buying a cheap early Cayenne,
can you give me some advise on how to stay away from lemon cars and how to get a good quote to insure that car?
Thank you in advance
-
Yeah, you're right, I'll probaly take the very little money they are evaluated here and see what I can get in CA...

It could be some air trapped in the new water pump....

When you cycle trough the gears to fill up the oil the wheels have to spin or not? Do I need to jack up the car with the wheels free to move?
