  1. Nope 4 times what I paid exact same problem

Ok- Thanks! but.. Seriously he says the kit to fix with new parts is $3600 $400 in labor. So they are trying to screw me?

The MSRP for a complete air strut is $1017.

You can get them for $731 at www.porscheoemparts.com

The air coil spring component which you probably would only need is MSRP $595.

You can get them for $368 at www.porscheoemparts.com

  2. Gentlemen,

The photo posted above by "Faceman" is the T connecotr with Part# 955 106 323 50 which is really the problem maker.

Could you please inform if that is specific to Cayenne TURBO models or not? I need to know if Cayenne S models have this item in their engine and if anyone has really replaced that in his Cayenne S?

    Many thanks,

Below are the PET part numbers for the failing plastic 'T' water hose fittings. There does not seem to be any difference between USA, CANADA or ROW vehicles regarding these fittings.

Turbo V8 has 2 water hose fittings installed.

    Part numbers are:

    955 106 323 50

948 106 035 51 (this one connects to the water return line for the cooling of the turbo chargers).

The PET shows that the normally aspirated V8 has only a 955 106 323 00 water hose fitting installed but apparently is not a T piece so may not be an issue.

    Hope this helps.

  4. At minimum they should insert a borescope into the cylinders with plugs removed to confirm the alleged scoring.

Even if you have scoring, why change the engine if you have no other issues besides the ticking noise? If the problem gets worse your still up for a replacement engine anyway.

Seems like you are not alone on this one. Some links below with similar symptons.

  5. I'm new to my Porsche, so this maybe stupid question - but I'll ask it anyway. How do you disable air suspension?

Ignition on, push level / height switch forward for 5-10 seconds, message appears in display. Same procedure to enable or just drive forward and system will automatically reactivate. Page 222 of your owners manual.

  6. 3 - It has been intimated here that the fuel pumps DO "charge" the system if the door handle is pulled when the car is COLD. I can't find confirmation on this, except people reporting when doing the coolant pipes that they feared someone opening the door while the fuel injection system is open since it would spray gas all over. That could explain the perfect starting when absolutely cold if there was a bad check valve in the fuel system allowing it to depressurize, and the time that it sits and doesn't start OK is due to the engine not being cold enough to trigger the system pressure charging. (This makes me think this could be fixed by programming by Porsche so the pumps charge whenever the car is cranked like normal vehicles

For starters, have you actually heard the fuel pump prime when you open the door, first cold start?

Fuel pump fuses number 13 (secondary pump) and 14 (primary pump) in the engine compartment fuse box can be pulled one at a time, isolating the individual pumps.

It's common to pull the primary fuse if the primary pump fails and allow switching to the secondary pump to get the vehicle moving again.

Here is a post from RFM in the past..it may help.

  7. @ RFM - Is it possible to overpressurise the bellows as described by 4CN Air?

Does the air suspension system have a high pressure cutout?

What is the normal operating pressure inside the strut bellows?

@ 4CN Air - When your air strut blew, did the other 3 struts or the opposing strut deflate as well, or was it just the blown strut that drooped?

  8. the aiming procedure I understand..but between the 2 assemblies the range of motion is completely different. I have to be at full up on one and full down on the other and they just barely are level with each other. Then at startup when they cycle the autoleveling procudure, they cycle at different levels. The original headlight assembly was not like this. This is why I am making the assumption that the autolevelling needs to be reset and the levels re adjusted to match.

Does anyone know if this is correct, or if there is a reset procedure for the autolevelling?

It seems you have to carry out a reset procedure.

Attached is some information that suggests this.

  9. Then something is wrong with both my rear door locks, i removed all my 4 door handles and then re-installed them, the front 2 doors still act the same way but the 2 rear doors do not unlock when you touch them. (Locking by pressing the button works on all 4). I guess i will have to find someone with a PIWIS to troubleshoot.

My 2003 Cayenne Turbo owners manual page 108 shows (Main Menu>Settings>Comfort>Door Opening>Doors).

You can program which doors unlock when opening from the outside.

  10. I took mine to the dealer today, $100 later I have a broken latch. The technician said that is the only way to get in to them. I'm assuming he put some thin piece of metal into the release mechanism and then hit it with a hammer (the button you push to open it has just enough space above it to fit a putty knife or a credit card). That basically punched out the part that holds it in place, leave the part on the lid itself intact.

I'm going to purchase some suitable magnets from the hardware store so that the lid stays closed when it's down.

They told me you can't just buy that mechanism, you have to replace the whole thing and it would be $600+.

    The latch mechanism is available:

The part number for the latch is 955 552 698 00.

    It retails for approx $42.

  11. Hi

My 03 turbo did the same thing.

I'm just using the normal key at the moment.

I haven't been able to locate the unit, near the stering wheel in my RHD car, so suspect it is acually on the passenger (left) side in RHD cars.

How much did your unit cost?

I'm not looking forward to replacing it $$$$$

    Thanks

    DS

    Perth

The control unit was replaced along with some of the antennas at the dealer.

All done for free due to the fantastic extended CPO warranty I have.
