For that rare fellow who would like to add factory heated seats. It can be done. First you must acquire the heated seats. My car is a 2007 GT3. I was able to, when a Rennlist member put his nearly new ones up for sale on that forum. He was replacing them with the GT2 seats in his 2010 GT3.

Next you need the HVAC Climate Control Unit. Part # 997 653 111 14 (Note the last digit can be 1,2,3,or 4. 4 was the most recent update.) These can be found used on ebay and other internet sites, as well as new from a dealer. I used Sunset Porsche.

I swapped out the seats and the control unit myself. Directions for those steps can be found on other posts. Planet 9 has a good article on PCM install that shows the Climate Control Unit removal.

The wiring harness for the heated seats connects exactly like my non heated seats did. The only problem: no wire was present to connect seat heaters to Climate Control Unit . My pals at Harper Porsche, the Knoxville dealership came through with the solution. A wire was ran directly from the Climate Control Unit to the seats, under the carpet of course. The final challenge was the wire connection. Jason, a Porsche Service Tech did a lot of research. This is the Gem of this Mod. Those connectors are a BMW part. Jason tracked them down and eventually acquired some. 30 cents each. Originally used in an older M3. (This has to be an abomination of some kind!) Hardwiring is an option but he was reluctant to go this way.

I picked up the car today. The outside temp was 38 degrees. The heated seats worked great! Toasty buns.

If you don't have PCM 3.0 then the old one for the 997-1 might work.

If you do have PCM 3.0 then I think it is a new ball game.

I just purchased a 997.2 this month. Parts & service guys at dealership say the cars are prewired for XM retrofit, just a matter of time before it is released. Just like the new Bluetooth retrofit.

How much time is the question...I waiting myself.

It turns out with my newly installed basic PCM 2.1, MOST was not activated. No need for it. Dealer tech activated it and it discovered new XM unit. Finally after weeks of missteps, it all works. I am really pleased with it all.

Dealer has to activate Most if it is not already. My car did not have Bose, nav or cd player. MOST was off.

Then it automatically comes up as another option when you hit the am/fm button.

I was really pleased, it has taken me a few weeks, to finally get this right, many system variables.

How do you access the Sirus unit , does it replace the original AM/ FM tuner selection from the main PCM ? Is the device listed on the PCM harware menu when you press main and trip together ? We dont have this facility over here in the UK , but I'm very interested in the coding of the PCM to accept another MOST device. Thanks

i need to replace the front discs for my 997 GT3 soon (ca 12000miles)and need some feedback on other steel discs and pads beside the OPP.

Installed OEM XM kit but I cannot get any input of it on PCM. I have tried all 3 of the available orange Fiber optic cables.

The seller was quite gracious about my Mistake. His ad clearly stated for Bose, but I got wrapped up in what version of PCM it was and looked past it.

He has cancelled our transaction at full refund, and I ship it back to him.

A shame it really worked and looked perfect. Now I want one even more. The install itself is pretty simple.

If you are in the market for a PCM 2.1 with Bose, check ebay. It and the seller are a winner.

I bought a PCM 2.1 on Ebay.

It installed easily and powered right up, looking very good. Went to dealer for code activation, we got trouble...

It seems my 2007 GT3 with base sound CDR-24 unit has a small built in amp. The PCM does not. Tech says adding an amp is a big ($) job. Lots of wiring harness work.

Anybody have any experiences or solutions?

My lovely PCM maybe up for sale rather quickly if We cannot solve this one.

Tech is going to try Porsche engineers for ideas.

Disappointed DIY guy.
