  1. I had a similar problem with my windshield creaking and ratteling in the channel. TSB 6420 fixed the problem for me. It took about 30 minutes to do.
  2. Maybe you won't have to. WHere is the noise coming from exactly? What type of noise is it?
  3. That sounds great. I was in PDX last year for about a week when I went to go see DMB at the Gorge. I have a buddy that worked for Subaru near the airport. I'll keep my eyes out for conf of the Porsche Parade. If I am still on the west coast you can count me in! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I heard it was a good concert. Tom Petty is coming up to the Gorge, I think in late August or early September. I'm going to try and catch that one... Jim
  4. You're welcome Tool Pants... Yep. Jeff didn't realize I only had the rubber band wind up variant and not the turbo. Thx...
  5. That part number (900 219 009 30) is a screw plug M18 x 1,5 that goes in the top of the engine case. Someone misunderstood someone - perhaps the part number is different. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi Loren... That was the p/n for the drain screw (my goof) I bought a new one. But check out picture and invoice above... Thx... Jim
  6. Hi Dell... Hows it going? I heard a rumor that the 2006 (not 2005-this year's) Porsche Parade is going to be in Portland... If thats the case you gotta make your way up here...neat drive and Oregon is nothing but back roads. Jim
  7. That part number (900 219 009 30) is a screw plug M18 x 1,5 that goes in the top of the engine case. Someone misunderstood someone - perhaps the part number is different. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dell, Loren, ToolPants, Coaster and ebaker Old Scandahovian saying: One Picture Worth a Thousand Words...check the neo o-ring next to the dime...BTW also check the price for the oild filter...from Jeff at Sunset...
  8. Hi Toolpants... The O-ring in question is about the size of a nickel made of neo or rubber...its not the filter o-ring... I spoke with Jeff at Sunset this morning. He said he didn't get an email from you and he apolgizes if he may have overlooked it. I relayed the info about the rebuilt steering rack from you to him. Here's in the info Jeff gave me. The sterring rack for the Boxster is the same 1997 and up. Rebuilt Unit/Part Number 996-347-011-GX The rebuilt unit is $544.30 with 2 year unlimited warranty. There are 3 in the US and will take about a week to get to Portland. New Unit/Part Number 996-347-011-07 The new Unit is $788.48 with the same 2 year unlimited warranty. Available in Portland stock. Core deposit is $150.00 on both new and rebuilt. Refundable only if core was not involved in an accident. You can give Jeff a call at Sunset: 800-346-0182. Plug for Jeff at Sunset: Jeff is a TERRIFIC guy and he knows his stuff!!! Hope this is helpful to you... Jim
  9. Loren... I went to Sunset today to pick up a filter and an o-ring to do my oil change this coming Saturday. Jeff asked me if I wanted 900-219-009-30 a little tiny O-ring. He said it goes on the base of the cover (I think)...I checked the DIY but I don't see it anywhere...where does this little O-ring go? Thx.. Jim
  10. Tool Pants... Just curious who you used to do the bodywork. When I lived in the Bay Area I used Carlson in Palo Alto. Reasonably satisfied with the work but that was on my BMW. Jim
  11. Thx Loren for the follow-up. I guess they're trying to save a bigger piece of the Black Forest!
  12. Loren... I note that the last update on the TSB's is Feb. 2005. Just curious...do TSB's come out under one release or do they come out one at a time. Are there any new ones? Thx... Jim
  13. If Followed Scouser's instructions but ran the power to the wiper intermittant switch (the rotating dial) light works just fine and so does the wiper dial. Everything works great. Try tapping into that...
  14. Do you have a picture or could you take a picture I'd like to see what has been talked about in this thread... Thx... Jim
  15. Loren... How big of a deal is it to the internal baffles in the stock air cleaner box. Honestly, I've never taken notice of them before.
  16. Hi Scouser... TSB 7018 is what I used to fix the same rattle, plus the side vent rattle and the defroster cover. The filt tape is readily available at any Porsche dealership and its super cheap and it has fixed every interior rattle and squeek my car has had.
  17. OK...I'll let you know how they turn out... thx for the tip... Jim
  18. Thx for the tip...I don't know how my wife would take to me baking the hubs in the kitchen... I think I'll take them down to a commercial painters and cure them down there. Thx...
  19. Thx... Do you have any pics? Seeing rust on my wheel hub sort of bummed me out. How close was the color on the paint to the Porsche original gray? Thx... Jim
  20. The oil filter wrench for my 99 996 is part number 00072192140. It takes a 27 mm socket. Hope this helps...
  21. I was cleaning my car today and noticed the beginning of some rust on my left front wheel hub...any ideas on a fix/repair. My search didn't come up with much. Thx... Jim
  22. Welcome to the wonderful world of screw the P/car driver by your friends at the local authorized Porsche dealership!!! Don't you just love those SOB's?
  23. Wheel bolts for some reason show wear prematurely even when you aren't messing with tightening them down. I must have replaced 2-3 sets on all wheels. Now I just keep them real clean with a metal polish. (Someone said Flitz is good). Every once in a while I do some touch up with a closely matched touch up paint that I get from Shucks (Kragan or Checkers depending on what part of the country you live in...I think it was a Toyota silver...anyway its real close) And when and if they begin to look real grody I'll replace them again...
  24. Cay-Ute Well, welcome to the world of Porsche!!! I agree Bridgestone SO2A's are best tire I have ever had on my car...maybe thats because they say N4!!.. Jim
  25. I'd like suggest to suggest that more frequent oil changes -- certainly won't hurt. Ditto with a tranny flush, a collant flush and replacement of the air filter about every othe oil change. I change my own oil every 5K and a new air filter every 10K. I drain the transmission fluid and coolant once a year. Its a nice Saturday afternoon job. Check tires every week for correct pressure Also keep your car cleaned, polished and waxed maybe twice a year...But somehow, I feel like I am preaching to the choir! Jim
