  1. I never understand people who start their car up after "storing" it... storing a car means, you added the fuel stabilizer, charged the batteries and overfilled the tires. If you go out to start it every couple of weeks, you just have long term parking. When we winterize the boat, we do all of the above including antifreeze into the engine and pull the batteries.... its diesel, so no fogging the block.
  2. I pulled my starter off my 98 last night (65k miles).. it sounded nasty when it turned over and drained hard on the battery. The hoses do not pull apart easliy... if they pull apart at all. I loosened the throttle body and when I turned it up, only then was I able to get the air intake off. The lower starter bolt took the longest. I could not get a "snorkel" loose on the LH side, so I had to work around it. I will be taking the starter to AutoZone to be tested. They can get a re-man for $130 plus the old starter.
