  1. throwout bearing? oops, just saw you have a C4. Have you had the front diff fluid checked or changed?

No, but within a week I'm going at my dealer's for the 80.000km maintenance. Meanwhile, I won't drive, not wanting to increase the risk on something serious happening...

Again I can only hope costs won't be too big, wouldn't be the first failure on my 996... :censored:

  2. Since I've only got an appointment with the dealer within a week, this question :

Recently, a noise is coming up in my MY02 996 4S. It begins after only a short driving distance, and at higher speeds, it's almost louder than the PSE ! It has got nothing to do with the engine, it's something like a winding noise, coming from the front (axle ?) and it's like I feel something - although very slightly - when pressing the clutch. It's like some part is rubbing against something, but I can't see a thing. The noise changes with the speed, like making rpm's.

Driving is as usual : no problem while braking, shifting or handling...

Nevertheless, the noise is annoying and I want to avoid driving until I'm going to the dealer's next week...

    Any ideas ????

  3. hi,

    don't try that!

-you will damage your clear plastic parts

    or/and

-if you have removed the cover you will not able to clean everting to new condition

    and

-you will damage the cover (for sure)!

if you want to change the optic buy another set of headlights by ebay or teile.pl!

So you're saying that my only good option is to buy new headlights ?

This teile.pl site, is it reliable where it comes to selling used parts ?

  4. Make sure cooland level is correct and properly bled. An air pocket can cause the gauge to read improperly.  I doubt you coolant temp is as low as the gauge indicates.  You may also try resetting the computer,  Many times I have gotton screwy gauge readings and a simple computer reset fixes them.

This makes sense. I checked the water level and it's clearly UNDER the minimum level. I wonder how this happens, since the car has got his servicing only 5000 kms ago !?

Can I safely drive to my Porsche-dealer (25 kms) without adding water ? It seems one should fill up with water and coolant mix, but I don't have this (and all shops are closed today and tomorrow).

  5. Last night I noticed that the indicated water temperature was slightly below the usual 80-85°C, about 75°C

This morning, it took 8 minutes before the temperature reached 60° and after a 20 minute ride, it wasn't still on the usual 80-85, it was somwhere around 70-75°C.

It's the first time I noticed this.

Is it dangerous ? I hope not, since it's the oil temperature that is important.

Can I go full throttle up to 6000rpm with the indicator below 80°C ?

    I've got a 2002 4S.

  6. Look here: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2470&hl= Just cut the diode in the "abgassklappen relays". This will prevent the speedo signal reaching the electronics of the PSE only. All other circuits needing the speedo signal ( including PCM ) remain intact, no side effects.

    Greets, Eddy

Interesting, sounds easy ! You say it's located under the dashboard. Meaning inside the car ?

Sorry, but I ain't technical at all :notworthy:
