  2. Another B&M install question. Did any of you retain the square, white plastic slider from the left side of the OE shifter assembly when installing the B&M? Thanks! Chad
  3. There is a 3M tape that is used. Porsche supplies it but you can also get it from NAPA and your body shop. Be VERY ure that the area is stripped of all wax and material and is perfectly clean. C.
  4. How much time is required for a full alignment? Local shop mentioned about 5 hours. This seems to be a bit extreme. How long does it really take? I have an appointment today. Please answer as soon as possible please. Chad
  5. Here are the chain of events. 1. Gas low, stopped to get fuel. Temp outside dropping to around 29 deg. 2. Fill tank, paid and pulled out. 3. Upon reving the engine and then letting off as I approached a stop sign...I got a strange vibration. A (best description I can think of) "bbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrr...." Felt it in my seat and the floor. 4. Turned left and rev'd hard to get through a light and continued up the road to 60/70mph. 5. Next light. I am now downshifting. Same feeling and sound as I let off the gas and then, throttle blip to downshift to 3rd (5000 on revs). "bbbbrrrrrrr" same thing. 6. I stop...then get going. from this point on...no sound or vibration. I thought this was very odd. Any ever experience this before? Upon driving to work this morning (sunny and 19 outside), nothing...nada. I am not really to concerned. If it breaks...I'll fix it. :D Just curious...clutch / flywheel perhaps? TIA, Chad
  6. I would say a medium - "ticka, ticka, ticka" as the clutch is let out and the car is resting at idle.
  7. I had a LTW fly on my last car. Loved it! A rattle is a normal thing. However...it is well worth the throttle response. I noticed a slight (butt-dyno) gain. Please note the word - slight!! This is usually due to the transfer of the reduced rotational mass to the wheels. It was very slight, but there seemed to be a little more oomph. Besides...the rev-matching was SOOOO much easier. If you have the $$, I recommend it. Eventually...I plan to do the same. Chad
  8. Yep...Nitrogen is used in race tires because it does not expand in the tires like normal air does when the tires heat up. The difference between the two is rather dramatic. Upon trying this at a DE, I only had to adjust the pressures from fill up. I was running Kumhos, and I am not the fastest out there. But, I did notice that when the tires heated up...they did not get greasy at the end of the session. Whereas, before...I would have to bleed off 10-15 psi just to bring the hot tires back to my preferred pressure. Nitrogen is much more consistant. Really not worth doing for the average DE'er. A full on Cup Car maybe...but the average DE'er won't be maintaining the speeds that racer's are running. Also...the Nitrogen is more applicable to full on race tires like Hoosiers vs. DOT legal R compounds. Just my .02, hope it helps. Chad
  9. Do I really need to pull the front wheel carriers out with the front struts? Removing the lower ball joints and releasing them seems a bit unnecessary. Is this really needed to do to swap springs? Secondly, if this IS needed to do...where can I get special tool #9560?? How much? TIA. Chad

  12. I will be trailering my tires. I am currently developing a custom bolt on hitch that will be removable at the track. Most of the tracks are failry local. The most is 7 hours. Thanks for the info. Chad
  13. I want to track the car. As a result, a looooooong list of goodies is accumulating. So, the 1999 flat 6 has a oiling issue with R-compound slicks. Where can I find a dry sump kit for the car? Is there an aftermarket one? I want to run FAST on the track. However, in order to do that, you have to do it correctly. Fill me in. Thanks! Chad EDIT: the car is a 1999 996 coupe (11/98 build date)

  15. My 996 coupe does not have a Limited slip OR traction control. I would like to put on a limited slip diff. as my first mod. What's the time to perform this type of repair at a shop? Chad
  16. If interested, I have the rare dark wood maple accents in my car. I can get the Tequipment option number if you like. It included the Steering wheel, shift knob, and emergency brake.   18. I am in need of the part number(s) of the under tray components to a 1999 996 C2 Coupe. You know, the plastic trays attached to the underside of the car? I need to pass those on to my guy who can get parts cheap. Unfortunately, I need these yesterday due to the upcomgin holidays and ship time. Thank you very much in advance! Chad A.   20. I had a momo wheel on my last track car. I plan on tracking this car as well. So I might as well lose the airbag. I know about the airbag stuff, so let's not go there. Fill me in. I am under the assumption that the 993 is the same. Is this correct? Chad
