  1. hi all...many, many thanks for all your help. Problem is solved now - it's the little wire/cable that got detached. I am so glad! Cheers!
  2. Thank you bigbuzuki....I will certainly check that out tomorrow. BTW, how do I know that the relay needs changing? Can this be picked up by PIWIS? Or just by trial and error by putting on a new relay? Thanks again..
  3. I think I have similar problem - leaking from the left hand side fuel tank. But mine is Right Hand Drive. Do you think the problem is the same, regardless of right or left hand drive? I guess it is simple enough to get the mechanic to check by flipping over the rear seat and open up the access metal top? Cheers...
  4. Hi all, hope all's well. Finally found some time to look into this again. The mechanic saw that the wire/small cable leading to the connector (into the steering rack, right at the bottom) got cut off. Any idea where this wire comes from? I hope the problem will be solved by reconnecting the wire. Appreciate any leads to this. Thanks very much :)
  5. Thanks guys. I definitely have the servotronic option (looked at my options list). I have yet to check the electrical connector. Perhaps in another 2 weeks or so. Azelaya - how did you find out that the servotronic is the problem? PIWIS?
  6. Thanks! I googled this forum and gathered that I needed to get Pentosin. I got one with parts no G 004 000 M2. I was told it is the same as the one used by Touareg and Audi Q7. The fluid is green in colour. Yes, the steering is speed sensitive, at least prior to it becoming heavy. I check the tires every 2 weeks. Suspension seems ok too. So is the see time belt. There could be a leak, but I can't explain why the level in te reservoir has not deteriorated over the past 12 months...unless the workshop had done something behind my back! Cheers....
  7. Hello everyone! Wondering if you have come across similar problem and what the remedy is. My power steering (on the 2004 Cayenne S) got "heavy" some 12 months ago. I found the the fluid level in the reservoir was low and subsequently I had topped it up. 12 months has passed by - the level in the reservoir stays the same and the steering is just as heavy. Could it be just a pressure switch or fuse problem somewhere? My mechanic, who is not a Porsche specialist, is equally bafffled. cheers DIN
  8. Happy to share I've received confirmation that the "vent line" is indeed part of the kit. Thanks anyway guys. Excellent help here..
  9. Hi.....thanks again for these very helpful tips. I am in the midst of changingputting on the replacement aluminium kit but my mechanic had also suggested that I change the "smaller, 3 piece hose set with a T connector". Perhaps this is the one referred to above as "The small and brittle black plastic pipes connected to the left and right cylinder head (visible above the allu.pipes in the pic., are also a source of problems.)". Do you know the part number for this, and the price? Grateful your advise. Thank you.. Upon closer scrutiny of the aluminium kit picture, I can see that these smaller hoses are also included. Perhaps this is the "vent line"? I am getting the kit from Suncoastparts. Thanks again...
  10. Hi.....thanks again for these very helpful tips. 11. I had the same problem - just a case of poor contact. You may need to either change, or quite possibly, re-align, that plastic press-piece. Don't worry.
  12. After changing the "rear module", the car was back to normal (ie wipers are no longer activated by themselves, air-cond works, signals work) EXCEPT for i) the rear boot could not be opened and ii) the remote/central locking has somewhat been reconfigured - to lock the doors and boot, I press the usual lock/unlock button. Pressing the usual lock/unlock button again does not unlock the car. To unlock, I now need to press the "rear boot" button. And even then only the doors are unlocked. The boot remains to be locked. Today the mechanic changed the "lock module" at the front door - and now the locking and unlcoking of doors are back to normal. BUT, the boot still cannot be opened. Any idea where the problem is?
  13. Hello guys.... found the culprit (and I hope it's the only one). There's somekind of lighting module located at the back of the car that got wet (due to leaking sunroof hose). It says "7LO 959 930 D" on it. Need to replace this. Do you know what this thing really is? Price? Thanks for the help...
  14. Many thanks for the guidance Bob. Appreciate it. Will prompt the mechanic. Cheers.
  15. Yes Bob, the problem was there before i changed the battery. In fact I changed the battery thinking that was the culprit (it's 4 yearls old....hence good idea to change). The mechanic has now found a blocked sunroof water outlet. This could be the reason for short circuit but he has yet to open up the dashboard to take a closer look. Any tips/past experience on this so that we could zoom in straight into the source? I also realize there's a "damp" smell when aircond is turned on.... this could also be related to the short circuit. My guess > sunroof water outlet blocked -> water trapped somewhere near or at the aircond louvre/blower and eventually causing the short circuit?
  16. I only have one battery. Mechanic is still unable to rectify the problem. Unable to find the orginal battery hence mechanic has put on "temporarily" a locally-made DIN 100 battery. Do you think this is causing the problem to persist?
  17. Oh yes, the mechanic somehow managed to open up the boot... Cheers Bob!
  18. Many thanks Bob. As of today, the mechanic has stripped off "all" electrical stuff on the car ie external lights, internal lights etc in an attempt to trace where the short circuit could have taken place. Just wondering if short circuit is indeed the cause.....
  19. Thanks Bob. We get heavy rain all the time! Worst still, I only have "half a garage" at home, hence half of the car is exposed to sun and rain all day. Mechanic now will investigate the wiring at rear section of the car but the car boot can't be opened. Does anyone know how to open the boot manually? Thanks!
  20. Hello guys.... Early this morning I found the rear light of my CS '04 turned on (just the RHS). And the alarm somewhat disengaged/turned off. Thought I had left the lights on overnight and hence the battery had gone flat. But then the engine could easily start. BUT right after the engine is turned on, all electrical stuff went haywire - the rear wiper was moving randomly, the air-cond and PCM turned on and off every 5 seconds (at random too in no predictable fashion). The horn and signal lamps do not work at all. Checked the battery and it was kinda weak. Changed the battery but the situation persists. Any idea what sort of problem this is? Struck by lighting? Short circuit somewhere? Appreciate all thoughts and guidance on this. Many thanks....
  21. Thanks for the tips guys. Been travelling past many weeks. Will try out the suggestions soon. Will post the outcome. Cheers
  22. Hello there! Just wondering if you had come across similar situation. Of late, the air cond generates some "damp" smell. It is less bad if the air cond is NOT on recirculation mode. Coud it be that the (cabin?) filter has gone wet and bad? Is this something that can be picked up by PIWIS? Any idea how to overcome this? Cheers.
