  1. Actually quite a bit in it. val.pdf
  2. Yes received my 2'nd turbo S. I would post it, but the PIWIS system watermarks my email address into the document - I guess to prevent such stuff. If you subscribe to PIWIS it's available for I think €2.
  3. It's a bit hidden in PIWIS. The search engine seems poor and doesn't find stuff. I got it from drilling down - ie set the car type as 2014 Turbo S then, Information media, SY - Symptom-based repair instructions, Transmission/suspension/brakes.
  4. Same here. I can click on the file, choose where to download it to, then open it as a usual .pdf
  5. Like the turbo tech info It does not require one, it is a PDF file.

  7. WE02 Stops Service interval light coming on early WE14 Rear axle steering warning lights have been coming on and rear steering stops working
  8. Workshop Campaign WE11. Replacing vacuum lines for sound symposer. The lines on the change over valve can slip off due to engine vibrations. A faulty cooling system message can be generated due to the open vacuum line. They replace the vacuum line and the clean air line on the change over valve.
  9. 50 launches in a row with no problems! 5th gear review of turbo s part 1 part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxRAbFFpTSo
  10. I just had PCCB discs replaced on Turbo S. They were part no 991.351.407.00 and 991.351.408.00 and they have now been updated to 991.351.40x.002. They are for the fronts. The rear discs are now on part number 991.352.40x.003 but I had no noise from them. The symptom was a clicking noise on braking. It tended to occur from moderate speed down to a near stop. The TSB is WM465155. At the same time I had both front brake PCCB dirt shields replaced. The symptom was a metallic "ting" on reversing on full lock. New part no.s are 991.351.805.03 and 806.03. They are fitted from factory after Feb 2014. The TSB is WM461755. Finally, the TFT screen was shutting down randomly. Now fixed with a reprogram of the instrument cluster with PIWISII v.13.2 or higher. The TSB is WM 902525. I am waiting on a built to my spec turbo S but have not been able to add the I139 sports exhaust trims on my order, so have ordered the parts. Computer says no, even though they were supposed to be available from 01 March.
  11. Further googling came up with these. Porsche_918_Spyder_Datasheet.pdf 918 Spyder Product Update - Nov 2012.pdf
  12. Sadly a state of affairs at most dealers. The dealer will have it or access to it, but to most sales persons they are selling a box with 4 wheels- could be a washing machine as far as they care. Certainly my dealer stated I knew far more about the car than he did. That came from reading the manual on the iPhone app prior to delivery. If sales were as interested in their product as purchasers seem to be, they would read every model manual, look at all the online tech into and Hoover up everything they could to make them more knowledgeable on the product. Maybe that's me expecting too much.
  13. Whilst googling came across this E_991-TURBO_KATALOG.pdf
  14. Whilst googling, came across these.
  15. The part number from the ebay auction (996 642 133 06) is a CD for PCM1.
  16. Had a look at all 4 of my 996 642 030 02 discs, they do not cover Greece.... Sorry. I even put them in the PCM2 to see if they even covered it at all even at high level, but nothing doing... I think you are stuck, unless someone has access to a more up to date PET than the one one the porsche website which may show some other discs.
  17. The PET lists (for non US cars) 5 sets of PCM2 CD Navigation Discs. These are: "European cars" - 996 642 030 02 (there are older 00 and 01 versions of this and they are out of date - as part numbers are superseded the last digits go up) "South Africa cars" - 996 642 034 02 (there is an older 01 version) "Arab States and Saudi Arabia cars" - 996 642 035 01 "Australia cars" - 996 642 036 02 (there is an older 01 version) "Thailand and M074 cars (?!?)" - 996 642 037 02 (there is an older 01 version) I have no idea what an M074 car is, it is not defined in the PET. I think therefore the only discs available will be the 996 642 030 0x discs. I have version '00' and version '02' of these discs. In the UK at least the 00 is way way out of date, and the '02' is way out of date (even when it came out). The version 02 can only be used with PCM2 with OS 3.0 (press Main and Trip together). I will have a look at my '02' version and see what it has on it in respect of Greece tonight - never scrolled the map that far!!! What part number do you have on your discs at the moment? It should be on the disc itself or the carrier with the various discs in?
  18. Success Indeed! It was the fuse on the back of PCM, cost was £1, and its all working now! Phew. Very lucky person me thinks!
  19. Thanks, did check D8 and E6 (I checked every single fuse in the box 1 at a time!). I'll pull the PCM out tonight when I get home - I didnt know there was one on the back of it - would anyone have the spec of that fuse? I guess I'm still feeling stupid  , but its only a car, it can be fixed. Irritates to me to give OPC money when they are by and large (in the UK) rude unhelpful people!
  20. I decided to change my battery (2003 C2) as it was getting on for 4.5 years old and the cranking was getting slower each time, so thought best to nip the issue in the bud. No problems huh? Yeh how could ANYone mess up chagning a battery?! Read on - I am disgusted at my own idiocy.... :cursing: Went to OPC to get the new Porsche battery, (separate story - took 4 trips they are that bad, due to being closed, having no batteries ready, forgetting to get a battery ready and then finally 4th time lucky.) Price of battery was GB£150 circa US$290. Bit more than anticipated but hey its got a Porsche logo on it, and it must be the right battery etc. Got the new battery and proceeded to install. I'm not an unintelligent person, I know my way around electrics generally (Domestic AC and DC) and generally don't do stupid things. Took the old battery out, even managing to avoid setting the alarm off when disconnecting the old battery. Dropped the new one in and had it all lined up and connected the vent tube. Right, here's where warning 1 should have gone off in my mind - this +'ve cable seems a bit taut compared to when I took it off? oh well, must be me. Warning 2 - this +'ve cable seems very loose - Hmm they must have changed the post size (Yes I even know the + and - Posts are different sizes). OK, you see where this is going, as I go to connect the -'ve cable, small spark and I realise what I've done - connected the battery momentarily with the wrong polarity. :censored: How could I possibly be that stupid? Well, it turns out the answer is that the vent tube can be installed on either side of the battery, and the dealer had set it up to come out of the right hand (incorrect) side of the battery, so when I then dropped the battery in with the vent on the left side, the battery was turned around and so had the wrong polarity. Totally my own stupid fault for not checking the polarity, but a warning for others if you are using an original Porsche battery, check that the vent is installed on the -'ve side and not the +'ve one like I got it. The dealer then swapped out the vent plugs (they can only be used once, you destroy it getting it out) and the tube was on the correct side. So, I drove home thinking everything works phew! BUT turns our the PCM2 and CD player (CDC4) are totally dead. Cant eject the magazine. Got home and checked the fuses and the D9 fuse had blown, and I replaced that, but still no joy. As I hang my head in utter disbelief and anger at my own idiocy, anyone have any thoughts on potentially not having blown internally the PCM2, Bose Amp and CD player, requiring complete replacement? I'm guessing £5k.... I guess I'll just have to hand it over to the dealer and say bill me. I'm still really really angry at myself for being such a dork.....
  21. There is a difference in MY02 cars and 2002 purchased cars. Model year 2002 were produced until end of July 2002. A couple of Model year 2003 cars were produced in the last run before the shut down in August 2002. Then in late August 2002, the transition was made to Model Year 2003 cars which include the MOST bus and would take a PCM2 which you have seen the instructions for on the site. Easiest way to check is if you have the multi colour in RPM display which is a higher definition display with options for radio station, OBC etc. that is MY 03. So you may have a MY03 car, even though it was first sold in 2002. If you do, then PCM 2 is the way to go for a factory look. If you have a 2002 MY01 car, sorry that would be PCM 1 which is not that good, and has only very out of date mapping and not worth installing, in that case, go for an aftermarket system. Hope that helps!
  22. Sadly, Porsche did not purchase a TMC licence in the UK for PCM2 cars :cursing: Even with the version 3.0 OS and the latest mapping disks, the PCM2 will not show TMC messaging in the UK. It will in Europe though.... There is no ability to display TMC messaging on a PCM2 in the UK. As Porsche no longer support the PCM2 navigation, no further upgrades will be produced, so TMC will never work in the UK. The new PCM2.1 which comes in the 997 and 987 will show TMC, but only if you have the OS upgraded to the latest version and purchase the new nav disk from the dealer (which is what I think you are referring to). This caused a bit of outrage in the UK as the dealers, the advertising materials and the manuals implied TMC would work in the UK from the outset, so all those people buying new cars when they purchased them expecting TMC were dissapointed. Porsche UK refused to upgrade their systems in the majority of cases relying on a "the details in this material are generic and not applicable to all markets" get out clause. Hence, beware if purchasing a used 9x7 that it has the latest OS and disks if you want TMC.
  23. Well done indeed :clapping: I ended up, after 3 months of negotiations with clueless dealer, getting a remanufactured PCM2. I trust the original owner had no issues with me knowing of all his French addresses which were left on it! Anyway, PUK agreed to pick up the cost of the unit and fitting (took the dealer 4 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!), BUT, I would have to pay for the replacement mapping discs as they only ship reman'd PCM II's with OS 3.0, which will only work with the latest discs, and not the versions I had. Cost to me in the end I think was around £400.... Oh well!!! I write it off as another gouge on the customer, but also simply a cost of owning Porsche. Please let us know the details of AEL and the pics - I might order a new tray just to keep as a spare!
  24. If you're lucky enough to still be in the original 2 year PAG warranty period (04 production run started Sept 03) then they should sort you out with a replacement pcmII system (which will be a remanufactured one...). Make sure they put the latest software on it (at leat 2.0 and possibly 3.0 but that may only be for the US) and if you have Bose, the latest Bose amp software, and pair the PCM with the dash, otherwise the wrong trip mileage will show.
  25. Yep - have exacly the same problem on an 03 996 c2 with PCM II. After opening the tray one time earlier in the year, it now will not stay closed. I can press it in but it will not lock closed. I took the whole PCM 2 unit out to have a look at the tray mechanism, but it is wholly contained within the whole PCM unit and I was nervous about starting to crack that open! Took it to an OPC, who said, "Porsche extended warranty does not cover any communication, entertainment or audio systems. You will need an entirely new PCM II system as we dont repair or attempt to repair them, we'll get you a price. Porsche UK will not pay anything towards the cost." Obviously in OPC usual crap fashion (why are most UK dealers useless muppets IMHO??!) they never came back with a price. Nice - thanks for my business then! I know one other UK person had a faulty PCMII out of warranty and tried to get Becker (original manufacturer of the unit) to look at it, who flatly refused saying they would not look at it as it was an OEM unit, and he would need to go to Porsche, who refused to look at it etc etc... Be interested in any solution anyone else has acheived!
