  1. Hi Loren, I had a code indicating that the enrichment limit had been reached on cylinder 4-6 but that has been corrected which resulted in the reseting of the computer to clear the CEL. I've made two 50 mile continuous drives since then but all the monitors (evaporator, o2 sensor and catalyst) are shown as "Not Ready" on the emissions report. I guess I need a few more drive cycles to get them reset. Thanks, Tim
  2. Hi Guys, Three of the emissions monitors read not ready when I had my emissions test this morning which resulted in a failed test. How do these get reset? The guy who was doing the testing said this would happen by driving around. Is this true? How far does one have to drive, if so. Thanks, Tim Note - this is for a 99, 996 - posted in the 997 forum by mistake (oops).
  3. :help: Last week my car showed a CEL and the resulting code was p1126 indicating that the engine rich threshold on cylinder 4-6 had been reached. I had the code cleared and about 50 miles later it came back. I popped the engine cover while the engine was running and I can hear, very clearly, an unsual sucking noise which leads me to suspect a vacuum leak. Any ideas on how to diagnose / correct this issue. Am I better off just taking it up to the dealer / reputable Porsche repair guy? Any suggestions are appreciated. Also, is it okay to drive the car or should I wait until this is corrected? I've driven it very little since this occured but the car seems to run fine with no hesitation through all gears. Thanks for the help! Tim
  4. I use the same one as Electric Lizard. Worked w/o any problems.
  5. Thanks! I can hear it when the engine is off if I turn the wheel vigourously. I've never had any work done to the struts but I'm pretty sure that something is loose in the steering wheel. I'm going to take it apart in a week or so (I'm leaving for a crusie on Saturday and I'm out of town on business now). I'll repost and let y'all know what I find. Tim
  6. Definite rattle. Imagine if you put a screw or something in a hard plastic cup and rolled it around. Small wheel turns don't result in any noise but if I turn the wheel substantially (like when turning a 90 degree corner) then you hear it sliding around. I really appreciate any and all ideas as the noise is pretty annoying.
  7. Alrighty. Not getting much love here ;-) Anyway, my plan is to just remove the airbag unit and see what's loose. I have some DIY instructions for replacing the steering wheel. Anyone care to contribute any tips? Anything? Bueller? Bueller? Thanks, Tim
  8. <_< Something started rattling in my steering wheel today. It sounds like something has come loose and you can hear it rattle around when the wheel is turned. Any ideas? How hard is it to take the wheel off? Is there a DIY for this? Thanks for any advice  Tim
  9. Had a good look (with the aid of a flashlight) and determined that the line is not punctured. If just has a dent in it which explains why the A/C still worked okay. I guess this isn't the source of the leak and now I'm wondering if the leak is from the P-car as I've moved the car to another location and nothing has shown itself. Puzzling. Tim
  10. That must be what it is. I can see a hole in the line (the larger of the two). The A/C still seems to work okay though. Is there a patch kit for these lines or does the whole line need to be replaced?
  11. I will when I get back home. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the A/C. I noticed after driving it last night that quite a bit of condensation had collected on the line.
  12. The line is really close to the side of the car so I don't think they are the radiator lines.
  13. Hi All, Just got back from a little trip with the family and noticed some oil like substance on the floor in the garage right around the passenger door. Looked underneath and there is a tube of some sort that runs from the front of the car to the back which has a hole in it and I'm guessin that this is the origin of the leak. Can someone please tell me whats leaking and what the tube is. There are actually two tubes, a large one and a smaller one a little further toward the centerline of the car. The large one is the one which is leaking. Thanks for any help. Tim
  14. Thanks. Just to restate to make sure I understand. If I wanted a bit more oversteer I could acheive this by lowering the pressure a few pounds on the rear. Yes?
  15. You can also do most of it yourself using the DIY section here on the site. None of it is very hard and you'll save quite a bit of money. The major items are: oil change, new airfilter and new plugs. Tim
