  1. Hi Loren,

I had a code indicating that the enrichment limit had been reached on cylinder 4-6 but that has been corrected which resulted in the reseting of the computer to clear the CEL. I've made two 50 mile continuous drives since then but all the monitors (evaporator, o2 sensor and catalyst) are shown as "Not Ready" on the emissions report. I guess I need a few more drive cycles to get them reset.

    Thanks,

    Tim

  2. Hi Guys,

Three of the emissions monitors read not ready when I had my emissions test this morning which resulted in a failed test. How do these get reset? The guy who was doing the testing said this would happen by driving around. Is this true? How far does one have to drive, if so.

    Thanks,

    Tim

Note - this is for a 99, 996 - posted in the 997 forum by mistake (oops).

  3. :help:

Last week my car showed a CEL and the resulting code was p1126 indicating that the engine rich threshold on cylinder 4-6 had been reached. I had the code cleared and about 50 miles later it came back. I popped the engine cover while the engine was running and I can hear, very clearly, an unsual sucking noise which leads me to suspect a vacuum leak. Any ideas on how to diagnose / correct this issue. Am I better off just taking it up to the dealer / reputable Porsche repair guy? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Also, is it okay to drive the car or should I wait until this is corrected? I've driven it very little since this occured but the car seems to run fine with no hesitation through all gears.

    Thanks for the help!

  4. Definite rattle. Imagine if you put a screw or something in a hard plastic cup and rolled it around. Small wheel turns don't result in any noise but if I turn the wheel substantially (like when turning a 90 degree corner) then you hear it sliding around.

I really appreciate any and all ideas as the noise is pretty annoying.

  5. Hi All,

Just got back from a little trip with the family and noticed some oil like substance on the floor in the garage right around the passenger door. Looked underneath and there is a tube of some sort that runs from the front of the car to the back which has a hole in it and I'm guessin that this is the origin of the leak. Can someone please tell me whats leaking and what the tube is. There are actually two tubes, a large one and a smaller one a little further toward the centerline of the car. The large one is the one which is leaking.

    Thanks for any help.

  6. Reading through some of the posts relating to tire pressure it seems that the general consensus is that:

    1. 996s are set up with a bit of understeer for safety reasons

    and

    2. that this can be mitigated somewhat by adjusting the pressures on the front and rear tires

If this is correct can someone explain to me which direction one should go to obtain various results?

    Thanks,

    Tim

  7. I was curious so I downloaded the list of options from elsewhere on the site and checked against my sticker under the hood. There are a couple that weren't in the list and I thought I'd just ask.

    These weren't listed:

    222

    448

    880

    Any ideas?

Also, it lists option 224 - ABD (active break differential), what does this do?

    Thanks,

    Tim
