  1. it should work if its a complete kit and will convert ur car to egas as well as all the other wireing, engine, tranny etc coomponents. what u will have in the end is a 45,000$ kit installed on a car that will still get shillacked because the GT3 will have a much more refined, and stiffer chassis because of seam welding as opposed 2 spot welding on the earlier cars. if u wanna go ahead and solve this as well by rewelding ur pannels or welding in a rollcage, then yes, you will have a GT3 which will have cost u way more than just goin out an buying it. however, if u do have a connection for these engines..wnna lemme in on it ;)
  2. nice to see, but i never really paid much attention to those reports because it doesn't describe the natuer of the problems. i.e. a company that makes a car with 300 small faileurs (window switches, little light bulbs etc) per 100 cars VS a company with 10 problems per 100 cars but which are catastrophic engine faileurs, tranny's etc. I know i made a drastic example but just to illustrate my point. I know mazda should be closer to the top..if it wasnt for the tributes (hurray for american electronics) and Mazda3 Tiptronic tranny's (basically anything sourced/built from Ford damnnit).
  3. Any idea why? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> no clue....my deck is rated at 50wattx4, the amp is at 45x6 and the speakers r 45 watt. maybe just bad luck the amp went..or maybe the amp didn't like the deck. 'm not much of an audio guy...i just kno what sounds good, and get someone else 2 do the install work lol
  4. dvdude, it won't be a problem as i have done it. however, i wouldn't expect ur amp 2 last very long as i fried one in like a yea and a bit.
  5. ^ scouser, do you have photos on what a GT2 bumper might look like on a carrera with the old style lights such as ours? john: i will probably be doing my bumper this month. i've got a 1999 bumper cover in arctic silver if you want. edit: and if u need 2 replace ur hood..i've got a CF one a well for ya :)
  6. if u go with fabspeed mufflers and cat bypass pipes, you will shed as much weight as with the muffler bypasses. (25 lbs from the mufflers and like 20 pounds from the cats) and it won't be as loud. worth a shot perhaps?
  7. like the title says: i've heard mixed reviews on this issue. a lot of people tell me that the 996's suspension is ill-suited to the task and 19" rims are fine for style and show..but will negativly impact handling. Is there truth to this? Someone please enlighten me.
  8. I'm changing out the stock amp and will be putting my factory DSP amp (harman kardon 6x45) and the panel that goes on the lower center console up for sale. can someone tell me how much the factory charges, so i know roughly how much to list for.
  9. do you get any steering problems with the spacers (i.e. bumpsteer?)
  10. can someone confirm what it is, what part# it might be and how much it might cost 2 replace it? Click here to view pic
  11. 144,000 kms seems like a very long interval..especially if u have track miles on the car. i'll prolly do it at 60k kms
  12. like the title says, i know this sounds like a stupid question (i'm still a noob when it comes to wrenching, and this will be my first transmission fluid change) but i saw on the DIY transmission oil page that the Carrera 4's have to chaing oil in the front axel final drive? this is different than a diffrential right? do i have to do anything to my LSD (my car is RWD, not a C4)? (flame suit on) thanks for the help. (also, how often do i have to change the tranny fluid?)
  13. as the title says. i don't want anything big/heavy or any expensive custom work, just something that can fit in the stock location (in the hood/trunk above the spare tire). anyone know of something that fits?
  14. if they're for a carrera 2 i'll buy them :)
  15. ECU mapping will be done by solaroli motorsports in toronto. the throttle body will be from FVD. also, anyone know where to get a wireing harness and other stuff i need for the headlight conversion?
  16. hehe, i wouldn't call it a complete 180 as i'm still very much into performance. I just felt that the 3.4L motor wouldn't have the balls to deal with the extra drag from the widbody kit i was going to do, not to mention the wider wheels needed to fill out the fenders. (plus i like the idea of having a fast show worthy car :) ) so now my priorities are as follows: 1)RGT facelift/PSS9's in tandem 2) Throttle body and ECU 3) Atomic Beaver Powered Flux Capacitor turbine, in carbonfiber.
  17. thanks for the info programmator. i've decided to bite the bullet and get a pair of facelift litronics and do the new style RGT RS bumper. it just looks tooooo nice to resist ( **** you germans!)
  18. splitwindow, how much was the bumper and where did you get it from?. i've been looking for an original/replica
  19. garage is heated 24/7 at about 65 or 70 degrees F. Humidity seems pretty low but i havn't had an opportunity to check it. probably wouldn't hurt to throw a dehumidifier down there once in a while. then again, i'm probably just being cheap.. trying to avoid a 50 dollar oil change on a 100,000k car thats been flawless upto this point.
  20. ^ how does this apply to leaving ur car parked for the winter. for instance in my case: i get about 4-6k kms a year on the car then it goes in for the winter. i was going to do an oil change next week and will probably bring the car back out in april. should i do the oil change every season because of contaminants that might stick to pistons and whatnot over the winter, or should i just change the oil filter every winter and oil every 2 years? Off-Topic: what's the usage life of BMC F1 filters?
  21. 996 343 701 21 didn't show up in my PET. Loren might be able 2 find it as i believe he has a newer PET build.
