  1. My Carrera S is a MY2005 and my friend has a MY2008 Carrera S and they are identical in all aspects. My car has 30,000 km on it and it runs just fine. So from my experience there's no problem with the first year of the 997-1 model.

  6. Thanks for the racing secrets bro, I promise not to tell anyone ;)... Will find it difficult to get the car aligned for track use since in Lebanon we dont have a race track, so I dont think I can find someone to align it for track usre :).... Hopefully in the future we can get some investments together to get one started until then I'll have to do with what I have. I'll give my dealer a call and see if they can do such an alignment for me.
  7. After getting around 2,000 km on the tires and drifting a little in them (treading them out) the car does drive better. However I think I will do exactly what you did and throw them out after getting a few more thousand kilometers on them. Thanks a lot for the great input and advise.
  8. Huh? My car is a 2005 CS2, whats all this about intermediate shift victims and porsche replacing engines for them? Is there anything I should be worried about?
  9. Thanks a lot guys. Now I can sleep better at night. By the way I'm loving the CS2 997, great sports car, just wish I could get it on the track. Unfortunately there's no tracks in my country. Anyone tried out the porsche track experiences or travel club? anything worth signing up for?
  10. I have Pirelli Pzero Tires with only 2,000 km on them. 19 in rims. Front tires at 24 pressure and back tires 29 pressure. The roads suck in my city. Very uneven roads. I have driven other sports cars on the roads in my city and they aren't as un aligned as my porsche.
  11. I have a 2005 997 CS2. When I hit speeds above 120 km/h I feel the car does not go in a straight line and actually feel I have to force the steering wheel into staying in a straight line. The car doesn't crazy left and right but its just not straight and just floats a little to the left then a little to the right, thats when I have to intervene (the steering wheel actually gets heavy to a certain side even though obviously I have my hands on it). Sent it to the dealer and asked them to check it out. They said the wheel alignment is perfect and that the springs are good and that there is nothing wrong with the car. After getting it back I was starting to think that I was just being paranoid. A few days back I hit the high way and I could swear the car was not going in a straight line and I had to constantly keep it in a straight line. Some one told me it might be the control arm or something? any suggestions? Thanks
  12. I think its either a control arm or worn out mounts. Sent it to the dealership and they said nothing is wrong. The sound has almost completely stopped and the heaviness of the steering wheel is much less. If the problem persists I will send the car to the dealer and tell him to check out the mounts and the control arm. Thanks a lot guys, you have been very helpful.
  13. Thanks everyone for the replies. I sent the car to the dealer yesterday and they thoroughly checked the steering components and did a few test drives. They said everything is fine and normal. I do have new Pirelli Pzero's, might have to wait till I wear them out a little. The popping and cracking sounds are all gone and the dealer told me that the sounds might have been because of water on the steering components or from the change in weather (had the car in a dessert climate area for a while and now shipped it to Lebanon where the weather is Mediterranean). I guess if the dealer says everything is fine and tip top then I should be fine. Thanks guys, Ali
  14. Hey, I have a: 2005 C2S Triptronic Blck on Blck w/ red stitching Blck 19" Porsche sports rims (loving them) My steering is a little weird. It started with a cranking or popping sound every time I would turn the steering wheel left or right. I took it to my dealer and after the mechanic turned the steering wheel left and right many times (made a lot of popping and cracking noises) he gave me an appointment to get a detailed check up for the steering but said its nothing very major and its safe to drive. When I was driving my car back home the steering wheel made the noise every time I turned it ( more often than before). The next day to my surprise the sound was gone. But then I noticed that when I drove on un even pavement/tarmac the steering wheel would naturally go right and left with the tarmac however the weird thing is that when the steering would go left or right because of the tarmac the steering would get heavy to which ever side and I would be forced to center it myself. I don't know if I'm explaining clearly, but its like the steering wheel wants to go left or right instead of centering. Funny thing is that when driving straight on good tarmac steering is perfect. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be. Ali
